Background -
This is the best recording of this Verdi masterpiece. The lovely Gianna D'Angelo is the definitive Gilda on record - delightful in characterization with a clean and brilliant belcanto line that seems to soar and float effortlessly. "Caro nome", "Tutte le feste", and "V'ho ingannato ..." are breathtaking and are highlights of an all-round superb performance. Renato Capecchi as the title character sings solidly and conveys Rigoletto's emotional state with conviction and Richard Tucker as the Duke is in fine voice. This is an excellent version of this much-loved opera worth owning for many reasons if not only because it splendidly preserves the artistry of the sadly under recorded Gianna D'Angelo in what was her signature role. - S. Smith
A tremendous performance by Gianna D'Angelo as Gilda and also Richard Tucker in very good voice ,but the Rigoletto of Renato Capecchi was magnificent, I didn't know that he had this role in his repertory and he shined in in this recording. I very much recommend this Rigoletto to any one who likes this opera.- Humberto Vinas

CONDITION Details:
The LP Jacket is in excellent plus condition! The jacket has NO seam splits or crushed corners! The corners and seams are solid with just some light shelf wear evident. The front of the jacket is laminated with clarifoil (not the back). The jacket has a number written in ink on the front, top right corner. The colors on the jacket are sharp and clean.
The LP is in excellent plus condition! We found that the vinyl looked very nice on this vintage LP. There are no significant marks and the LP retains much of the original gloss and sheen! There are a couple of light spider marks, caused by sliding the LP in and out of the inner sleeve. There may be a bit of dust and perhaps a finger print or two on the vinyl so it should be cleaned before playing. There are NO serious spindle marks on the record labels either. Just beautifully made vinyl! That said, acquiring a vintage LP like this is for the performance and rarity of the LP, not necessarily for the sound quality.
A Short Note About LP GRADING -- Mint = Only used for sealed items.
- Near Mint = Virtually flawless in every way.
- Near Mint Minus = Item has some minor imperfections, some audible.
- Excellent = Item obviously played and enjoyed with some noise.
- Very Good Plus = Many more imperfections which are noticeable and obtrusive.
For best results, always properly clean your LPs before playing them.
The LP is an audiophile quality pressing (any collector of fine MFSL, half speeds, direct to discs, Japanese/UK pressings etc., can attest to the difference a quality pressing can make to an audio system).
Don't let this rarity slip by!!!
