Conditions : laminated cover on both sides shows some minimal wear, NEAR MINT / disc has a few slight scuffs which affect minimally play with some light surface noise on the first track of side one and a few light clicks on the fourth track of the same side, NEAR MINT

GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie vengono controllati sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i i 33 giri in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1. Per EP e singoli a 45 giri utilizzo un Thorens TD 166 BC con testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All LPs in auction have been fully heard on a turntable Rega Planar 3 with a moving magnet cartridge Grado Statement 1. I listen EPs and singles 45  rpm. on a turntable Thorens TD 166 BC with a MM cartridge Goldring 1006. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : le composizioni sono di Piero Umiliani; la loro esecuzione dello stesso Umiliani con I Suoi Oscillatori. Per un documentario sull'antica Roma l'ovvietà avrebbe certo consigliato musiche solenni con trombe e tamburi o più intime con arpe e lire come già avvenuto nei tanti "peplum" nostrani. Umiliani si dedica invece alla sperimentazione accordando strumenti elettronici come i sintetizzatori, la batteria e le percussioni elettroniche con gli antichi suoni dell'arpa, della zampogna, della cetra, del piffero, del flauto e della lira. Il risultato è indubbiamente interessante passato e futuro si fondono senza contrasti per una musica che non ha più un'età.  Tra i brani : " Eliogabalus " in cui bene si può avvertire quanto sopra esposto. Ritmo abbastanza marcato, atmosfere un pò esotiche che scaturiscono da apparecchiature elettroniche e strumenti musicali tradizionali. Ugualmente o quasi in " Delenda Cartago " dal ritmo sonoro percussivo quasi di gusto Africano con arpe ed echi che si sovrappongono. " Bucolica " tema dolce caratterizzato dal suono simulato della zampogna accompagnato dalla lira, " Para Bellum " con agitati suoni di flauti e tamburi, " Miles Gloriosus " ricco di svariate percussioni su andamenti moderatamente celeri. 

Notes :  all compositions by Piero Umiliani, their performance by Umiliani himself & I Suoi Oscillatori (His Oscillators). For a documentary on ancient Rome the obviousness would certainly recommend solemn music with trumpets and drums, or more intimate with harps and lyres as was the case in the many Italian "swords and sandals" movies. Umiliani devotes his talent to the experimentation harmonizing electronic instruments such as synthesizers, drums and electronic percussion with the ancient sonorities of harp, bagpipe, harp, pennywhistle, flute and lyre. The result is certainly interesting : past and future merge without conflicts to music that has no more age. Among the tracks: " Eliogabalus " wherein you can easily feel what described above. From the rather fast rhythm, slightly exotic atmospheres arising from electronic and traditional musical instruments. Almost equally in " Delenda Cartago " from the percussive sound tapestry and an almost African tone with overlapping harps and echoes. " Bucolic " sweet theme characterized by the simulated sound of bagpipes with the accompaniment of lyre, " Para Bellum " with spinning sounds of flutes and some drum roll, " Miles Gloriosus " with a rich selection of percussions on a moderately fast development.
