QUESTO SPORCO MONDO MERAVIGLIOSO aka THIS DIRTY WONDERFUL WORLD - ITALIAN OST LIBRARY Lp by PIERO UMILIANI with scat vocals by GIULIA De MUTIIS (not EDDA DELL'ORSO ;) and ALESSANDRO ALESSANDRONI. Original Italian 1st pressing on OMICRON label (LPS 0019), from 1971. Holy grail Italian Library soundtrack by the maestro. An amazing score featuring some of his absolute funkiest themes :) An unusual hybrid example of Italian hippie psychedelia with country-fried acid pop and Brazilian lounge. Similar to the musical interpretations of early '70s young America a la Remigio Ducros and Daniela Casa with infectious arrangements / dub production / studio FX and treated instrumentation galore. Part stoned and experimental - part stylish and elegant with variations on a re-occuring theme from groovy exploitation / e-piano bossa and strange pop to fuzz funk with punishing B-boy drum skills ;) Outstanding mood music created for a counter-culture "mondo" movie documentary directed by Mino Loy and Luigi Scattini (of tropical sex film IL Corpo / La Ragazza Dalla Pelle Di Luna and La Ragazza Fuori Strada infamy). Our soundclip opens with the killer MONDO DOVE VAI? followed by the scat vocal interplay a La Schiava OST with wife, Giulia Di Mutiis aka Kema on the fender rhodes bossa LUNA Di MIELE / the sleazy fuzz and breaks reprise of DOVE VA IL MONDO / the spiralling country psych cum "hillbilly" guitar licks and heavy-duty drum breakdowns of LOVE IN then several other important trax playing on key musical elements of the main theme. Alessandroni is on fire with outrageous use of fuzz distortion pedals but also eclectic and inventive throughout. He even uses his voice like a musical instrument with more scat interplay with his wife on MODERATO GROTTESCO AND CANTABILE / IL MICIONE E LA GATTINA and QUESTO MONDO MERAVIGLIOSO. The bass flute that drifts into LOVE IN is most probably by Gino Marinacci as it sounds strikingly similar to Umiliani's Africa Library on Liuto label. The funky bossa MODERATO GROTTESCO AND CANTABILE is actually an alternative version of the "Che Cosa Mai Sara" Omicron label single by Ira (a variation of a theme from Umiliani's La Legge Dei Gangsters film score). Brazilian batucada and psych nuances with fuzz and funky agogo bells throughout PEPITO / I Marc 4 style hammond groove to HOLIDAY IN / beautiful orchestrations to IL MONDO E MERAVIGLIOSO etc etc. Superb musicianship by the Sound Work Shop studio group and insane sleeve artwork to match the muzak too :) Very rare OST Lp!!! Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG

Vinyl is in shiny VG+ condition overall regardless of some hairlines and some audible scuffs / scratches. Booming production sound. All themes play with some degree of light surface noises (albeit these Omicron pressings were never top quality anyway). Some pops and ticks to certain themes (as you can hear on our soundclip) but mostly from a scratch / scuffs across "Questo Mondo Meraviglioso" (the 1st track of Side A and last theme recorded on our soundclip). The half laminated thick card sleeve is closer to M- overall regardless of the common heat induced defects in the lamination all copies seem to have and some natural bending due to the thickness of the card. A touch of ring creasing / ring wear from storage. Minimal corner or edge wear. Paste-on paper back sleeve is very clean overall with just a few dirt marks and the odd mini defect from the original manufacturing process. Some natural age discoloration. Sharp looking item. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Very rare OST Lp!!!
