The sound works of Pierre and Ilse Garnier assume an idea of sound (or "sonie" as Garnier calls it) firmly anchored inside the oral elements created by man (like Dada and Lettrists) but developing them to their extreme limits. This was possible by means of the tape recorder technique since these elements must be transformed and manipulated, not it a new language, but in an explosive and vital sound-energy. This approach was very close to the one of Henri Chopin, Bernard Heidsieck, Ladislav Novak, François Dufrene and Jil G Wolman.
