Richard Branson talked John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten to start this band after Sid Vicious died from the Sex Pistols.
PIL METAL BOX 1 3-LP 1ST VIRGIN JOHN LYDON ROTTON PUBLIC IMAGE LTD SEX PISTOLS 45 RPM 180 Gram Vinyl Rhino Audiophile Quality Remastered
This is a gently used 3-lp 12" vinyl LP (because these play at 45 RPM, this might be considered EP) set in the original METAL FILM CAN by PiL (Public Image Ltd.) titled METAL BOX. Virgin Records Ltd. It's #METAL1. These three discs play at 45 RPM and have only 1-2 songs per side. This is a very limited release imported from the U.K. & was discontinued. This material was re-issued in both the U.S.A. & the U.K. as double vinyl lp releases in 1980 in standard vinyl packaging titled Second Edition. See the pics for further details.
Because they play at 45 RPM the sound is richer, fuller and Louder. In the past you would find these in the 99 cent bin, but now they are worth $750 and up in great condition. Limited in number only 50,000 were made.
"Public Image Ltd...John Lydon. Keith Levene. Wobble. Jeannette Lee. Dave Crowe..." were the members of PIL at the time of the release. However, Jeannette Lee and Dave Crowe as non-musical band members are not featured on the record.
Packaged in a 12" film can-style metal box. Includes an A5 size sheet with tracklist and line-up.
Side B ends with a locked groove which repeats the last few seconds of "Swan Lake" endlessly until the needle is lifted from the record.
Edition of 50,000 copies (plus an extra 10,000 for export).
