What to say about this: It's one of the best albums ever made. Its a challenge to "Never mind the Bollocks" as Lydons career highpoint. Its still way ahead of its time. None of the new wave of post-punk bands have ever come anywhere close to matching this. It just shades "Unknown Pleasures" as the best album of 1979. "Careering" is the best song ever written about the Northern Ireland conflict which the sheer sense of paronoia reflected in that throbbing bass allied to gradular synths. The lyrics speak for themselves. "Chant" is one of the best songs ever written about race relations in the U.K, both riveting and terrifying. The instrumentals are worth theprice of the album alone. With the possible exception of "Mezzanine" or "Spiderland" I cant think of any album of album that compares to this. Why cant there be more albums of this quality being made.
