Description
On my shelf is a first generation 1973 UK DSOTM vinyl LP with the solid light blue triangle label which has A-2 and B-2 stampers after the machine etched album cat. number SHVL 804. This particular offering is a second issue with the blue and black label, 'EMI Records Ltd' on the label rims (replacing 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd') and A-4 and B-3 stampers. As such it was probably / possibly born in 1973 also but I'm no expert so happy to be corrected.
As shown the album has a stickered sleeve, a black poly-lined inner sleeve plus the required two posters and two postcard size sticker inserts.
So, the gatefold sleeve has the left flap closed and the right mouth open to take all the stuff. It's made of strong card and is in solid shape. No rips, tears or writing but it does show some corner and edge rubbing along with some creasing and ringwear. Some minor paint loss on top right where a price sticker was removed. For condition I rate it 7 /10 in light of the cosmetic blemishes.
Both posters and both stickers (unused) are in nice clean shape.
Onto the record itself and the labels look good as shown. I see some spindle 'snail' tracking at the centre evidencing some play but I reckon a handful of spins at most. On Side 1 run-off with the A-4 stamper, there is what looks like 'PL' at 3 o'clock and '1' at 9 o'clock. For Side 2 with the B-3, at 3 o'clock position is hard to read so '? 11 7' with '2 3' at quarter to the hour. Make of that what you will, I haven't a clue.
Finally, the disc is of light to medium weight, flat and shiny. I see some paper scuffs and light needle marks under the table lamp. As such I give it 7 /10 also.
Normally to avoid grief I only list the cleanest LP's in my collection which have a 'value' but made an exception this time because it's an early DSOTM so may be of interest to you, the cognoscenti.
Anyway I'm starting at 99p and free postage to the UK so let the people decide! Should the new owner not be happy with my descriptions and / or the album itself then no problem to return.
