A Momentary Lapse Of Reason

This is the earliest UK first pressing that was produced, just look at the matrix numbers below!  Not even pinkfloydarchives.com has it on their matrix listing.  It has been superbly maintained and has stunning audio for the vast majority.  The gatefold and lyric sleeve are also in superb condition.

This vinyl is in beautiful condition and has been hardly played with only one very wispy faint spindle line on each label.  It has a fantastic glossy sheen and under a bright light there is only one small area of mega faint hairlines on S1 that have no affect on the sound quality.  They are barely visible and you have to look very hard to spot them!  S1 is still in superb condition and S2 is immaculate and rarely have I seen a 30 year old genuine first press looking so good.  The labels are in perfect condition also and the run out grooves are super clean.

Play grading  

'Signs Of Life' on S1 always has some static/crackle on the intro as per all the first/early pressings but on this vinyl it isn't loud and decreases rapidly after about one minute.  The rest of the track plays with excellent audio and just a touch of light static in the background here and there.  'Learning To Fly' has superb audio and no interference and easily grades as Mint in my opinion.  The remainder of the side is not far off this grading also.  'The Dogs Of War' is the only other track with a minimal amount of background static on the intro.  'On The Turning Away' is just breathtaking in its quality and rarely have I heard such depth and power on this track.  There is no 'background' at all and the more I listen to it the more I am falling off my chair in amazement!  It quite simply plays with Mint audio in all its glory and the guitar solo is just stunning.  Wow! 

Again as is so often the case with the first few grooves on these pressings 'Yet Another Movie' has some light crackle on the quiet intro.  Once the music 'kicks in' it plays superbly well with great atmosphere and no other interference.  The remainder of the side plays with immense power and clarity with just some static on 'A New Machine P1'.  'Terminal Frost' is a real highlight and again grades as Mint.  'Sorrow' is again stunning and rarely have I heard it play so well.  The depth of the sound is all encompassing with no 'background' and is a dramatic and powerful end to the album. 

Cover

The cover has hardly any shelf wear and remains in wonderful condition.  The edges and wide spine are amazingly clean with only very minor rubbing near and on the two right corners.  The front and back cover are incredibly clean and the inside is also immaculate.  The opening edge in untouched with no handling wear.  There is no real negative about this cover and is the 'cleanest' I have seen in a long time.  Stunning.

Lyric sleeve

This is also in great condition with no splits or tears and has only the bare minimum of rubbing on the top edge.  It is almost as new.

Looking as new they are as clean as can be with next to no spindle wear and no marking/writing.
