Description
A Momentary Lapse of Reason A3/B2
The very early pressing is in excellent condition and is often considered a first pressing as they were produced at the same time as the A1/B1 pressings.

'Signs of Life' on Side One is Ex and the remainder is Ex+ (many sections Near Mint)
The audio on Side Two is Ex/Ex+ (many sections Near Mint)

Visual grading
The vinyl is very clean with some faint hairlines and a longer one on Side Two that has no affect on the audio. I am sure they have been caused by sleeve removal and I expect the vinyl has not been played that much as there is hardly any spindle wear - I could only detect a couple of tiny spindle lines on the Side Two label. It retains a lovely glossy sheen and is an excellent example of this often underrated album.
Play grading
'Signs of Life' often plays with a lot of crackle but this version plays very well indeed. Yes there is some intermittent crackle, more at the beginning, but it is in no way excessive and the majority plays with excellent clarity. 'Learning To Fly' has audio that is nigh on perfect and plays with a deep rich bass that sounds great on vinyl. 'The Dogs of War' has a little static at the beginning but thereafter has stunning audio. 'One Slip' again has a minimal amount of static during the intro but it is very quiet and not intrusive. The rest plays with Near Mint quality. The classic 'On The Turning Away' sounds perfect from beginning to end and even the quiet intro plays without any static or crackle. There is a little distortion on the solo at the end but this is common and it still plays exceptionally well.
'Yet Another Movie' only has very minor crackle during the intro and then has fabulous audio that plays loud and with stunning clarity. 'Round and Around' has a little static in the background and 'A New Machine 1' plays with very clear audio but again with a light static in some of the quieter sections. Don't let this put you off though as it is very much in the background, I am just thorough in my gradings and write what I hear! 'Terminal Frost' is a highlight and plays superbly well, Near Mint without a doubt if not better. 'A New Machine 2' does have three clicks right at the start and then only plays with a touch of barely audible static. 'Sorrow' ends proceedings with a little static at the beginning but thereafter plays with great clarity and no other interference, wonderful audio in fact.
Gatefold cover
It is hard to believe this LP is now 30 years old so overall this gatefold has aged very well. There is a little rubbing on the edges and corners and as can be seen there is a very small 1cm area on the top edge of the back cover where the record has attempted to wear through. The wide spine is in great shape and the inside of the gatefold is superbly clean with no spotting/marking at all.
Lyric sleeve
The lyric inner is in near perfect condition and has no obvious wear at all.
Labels
They are in superb order with hardly any spindle wear and no marking.
