On offer another RARITY by Pink Floyd, the LP titled “A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS” and this is an early 2nd Transitional Pressing from 1969 on the RARE black Columbia label with ONE EMI BOX! The first press with the Blue Columbia label from 1968 sold in minuscule cuantities and in 1969 the band was gaining popularity so the record company decided to release the second press almost simultaneously with the second press of THE PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN utilising for some Stereo issues the flip mono covers they had left from the Garrod Lofthouse 1st Press with the file under popular and a black label with one EMI box label. These also sold in small quantities as they were quicly replaced by the third press with two EMI boxes the following year.
 

The vinyl is visually graded in excellent condition. Please see below a description of grades and note that this vinyl is 50 years old that has been played and will not transform into anything different to the condition stated.

The Black Columbia labels are in excellent condition and have the black Columbia label with silver text and the single white EMI logo in a small rectangle at the bottom characteristic of this rare 2nd UK pressing.  Side 1 has a gold star sticker. 
 

The laminated sleeve with HIPGNOSIS design and photos is in excellent minus condition with some creases and corner wear. The back mono SX6258 has the trifold fold over with the "File under popular - Pop Groups". 

The spine is mostly legible and feathered.

The EMI promotional INNER is in excellent condition.

A Saucerful of Secrets is the second album by rock band Pink Floyd, and marks the group's stylistic change from psychedelic to progressive rock. It was recorded at EMI's Abbey Road Studios, at various dates from August, 1967 to April, 1968. Due to Syd Barrett's declining mental state, this was to be the last Pink Floyd album that he would work on.

During its difficult recording sessions, Barrett became increasingly unstable and in January of 1968, David Gilmour was brought in. Barrett was finally removed from the band by early March, leaving this new incarnation of Pink Floyd to finish the album. As a result, A Saucerful of Secrets is the only non-compilation Pink Floyd album on which all five band members appear, with Gilmour appearing on five songs (Let There Be More Light, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Corporal Clegg, A Saucerful of Secrets, and See-Saw) and Barrett on three (Remember a Day, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, and Jugband Blues). As well as "Jugband Blues", the album was to include "Vegetable Man," another Syd Barrett song. However, the band believed "Vegetable Man", with its autobiographical lyrics, was unsuitable for inclusion and so it was left off the album. The song was to appear on a single as the b-side to another unreleased track, "Scream Thy Last Scream". Two additional Syd Barrett songs, "In The Beechwoods" and "No Title" were also recorded early in the sessions for the album.

An image of the Living Tribunal from Marvel Comics can be seen in the cover's upper left corner. "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" is the only Pink Floyd song that features all five band members. Keyboardist Rick Wright sings lead or backing vocals on four of the album's seven songs, making this the only Pink Floyd album where Wright's vocal contributions outnumber those of the rest of the band.

Disc- The record has been played and has superficial marks &/or hairline scratches and paper scuffs.

Cover - Moderate edge/spine or ring wear. Corners may be a little blunt. Opening edge may show feathering caused by removal of record. Visible creases or laminate lift. Localised sticker removal damage.
Disc - The record has been played frequently and has noticeable surface marks, occasional light scratches and paper scuffs.
 
Good                      
Cover - Heavy ring or edge/spine wear. Corners noticeable bashed. Heavy creases. Considerable laminate/surface damage.
Disc - The record looks very well played and the sound quality has probably deteriorated noticeably. A lot of surface marks/scratches. Usually used as collection filler
