PINK FLOYD : A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS 1/1 (very early stereo pressing)
This rare early 1/1 pressing is in excellent condition and for its age is relatively free of hairlines. Having researched pinkfloydarchives.com I believe it to be a very interesting variant as it isn't a first stereo pressing with the famous blue/black Columbia label but the label and tracklisting on the back cover still have 'Gilmour' as 'Gilmore'. Incidentally this is without doubt the best flipback cover (printed by G&L) I have ever seen, it is in fantastic condition.

Visual grading
For an LP approaching half a century it is visually in excellent condition. It has a wonderful glossy sheen still after all these years with only one scuff mark of any note on Side One and a few smaller ones on Side Two. Don't let this put you off though as they have very little bearing on the audio. Overall the vinyl has been very well looked after and you will certainly not find many better. A stunning example really for such an early pressing.
Play grading
There are three clicks at the beginning of 'Let There Be More Light' and then plays with excellent audio apart from a little area of distortion. 'Remember A Day' plays superbly well with minimal static, an exceptional listen. 'Set The Controls...' is quite simply stunning. For such a quiet track it plays with amazing clarity and only a few very light static sounds. For a vinyl of this age the sound quality is sublime. 'Corporal Clegg' does play with some distortion but this is always the case with this LP I find. The audio still remains very clear and strong however.
'Saucerful...' on Side Two opens very quietly with crystal clear audio and then has a little distortion as it gets louder. There is very little interference throughout and is a fantastic listen. The audio prior to the organ 'kicking in' is stunning for an vinyl of this age. There is just a little static to be heard but honestly the audio plays so well it was real pleasure to listen to and plays with no clicks or jumps although I would say there is perhaps a little more static towards the end. The final two tracks play very well with minimal interference and only a little distortion.
Laminated cover
The laminated flipback cover, printed by G & L, is superbly clean, without doubt the best I have seen for such an early pressing. The edges and thin pinched spine are in fantastic shape with no shelf wear apart from one tiny area towards the bottom edge which I have taken a photo of. There are only a couple of minor creases on the laminate and this truly is a stunning cover and the reverse side is amazing. The three flipbacks look almost as new with no staining at all. Honestly at first glance you would think this cover was brand new! The opening edge also has hardly any handling wear.
On the flipback top right is 'File under Popular : Pop Groups' and underneath is SCX 6258 (stereo). Overall a stunning cover that would grace any collection. As stated it has 'Gimore' on the tracklisting.
Labels
The black Columbia labels are in wonderful condition with only minimal spindle wear. At the bottom of the label it states "Made in Gt. Britain" and around the edge "The Gramophone Co., Ltd. All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved. Unauthorised public performance, broadcasting, and copying of this record prohibited". 'Gilmour' is spelt as 'Gilmore' on the tracklisting proving of course this is a very early pressing.
Inner sleeve
The original die cut inner sleeve is included and has the reddish brown printing on cream coloured paper advertising "Sgt Peppers" amongst others. It is in superb shape with no splits or tears, only minor creasing. Play tested on my Technics SL-J110R turntable system
