PINK FLOYD : A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS (very early stereo pressing)
This very early stereo pressing is in stunning condition and includes the laminated cover with three flipbacks. It has the black Columbia label with white Columbia logo and two EMI logos on the label. Gilmour is printed as Gilmore on both the labels and the cover.

Visual grading
For an LP approaching half a century it is visually in amazing condition. It still has that wonderful glossy sheen after all these years with only one fine hairline of any note on Side One. There is a small scratch on Side Two and one longer faint hairline but as described in my play grading below they have barely any affect on the audio quality which remains superb after all these years.
Play grading
'Let There Be More Light' has hardly any lead in static which is just so rare on a vinyl of this age. It then proceeds to play with stunning audio with only a hint of very quiet static here and there. It is a wonderful start to this classic LP. 'Remember A Day' plays equally as well and 'Set The Controls...' also plays in wonderful fashion with only a touch of light static, more noticeable during the beginning. The version of 'Corporal Clegg' is probably one of the best I have heard and only plays with a little distortion as is common on this LP. This is caused when the grooves are pressed closer together so as to 'fit' it onto the side. However, this 'Clegg' plays with excellent clarity and depth, a great end to the side.
The intro to 'Saucerful...' on Side Two does have a little crackle but is not intrusive and the audio remains strong and very clear. The crackle is only very quiet and compared to so many early pressings this is a wonderfully clear version. 'See-Saw' and 'Jugband Blues' again do not disappoint and play with a great clarity and resonance and very little interference.
In summary this is without doubt one of the best early stereo pressings I have heard. All the more so when you consider it is fast approaching 50 years of age. Any true Floyd fan would not be disappointed with this vinyl.
Laminated cover
The laminated G & L flipback cover is one of the cleanest I have seen. The edges and thin pinched spine are in wonderful condition with only a tiny area of wear on the bottom edge. This cover really has been extremely well looked after. The laminate on the front cover remains in excellent shape with no bubbling or splits anywhere, just a couple of small creases. The corners do have a little rubbing, it is minimal, and the opening edge is very clean and looks only very lightly handled.
The three flipbacks on the reverse are in great condition and have no staining which is so common with this LP. They only have a small amount of wear. On the flipback top right is 'File under Popular : Pop Groups' and underneath is SCX 6258 (stereo). Overall this is a stunning cover that would grace any collection. As per the very early presses it has 'Gilmore' on the tracklisting.
Labels
The labels are in wonderful condition with only a little spindle wear. At the bottom of the label it states "Made in Gt. Britain" and around the edge "The Gramophone Co., Ltd. All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved. Unauthorised public performance, broadcasting, and copying of this record prohibited".
Inner sleeve
The original die cut inner sleeve has the reddish brown printing on cream coloured paper advertising 'Sgt Peppers' and 'Abbey Road' amongst others. It is in excellent shape with only one small tear and minor creasing. It does have SCX 6461 written on one side. Play tested on my Technics SL-J110R turntable system
