PINK FLOYD - A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS
Increasingly hard-to-find 1968 UK original of this Floyd prog trailblazer, with excellent MONO audio
Year/Label : 1968 UK COLUMBIA Label number : SX 6258 Matrix numbers : XAX 3633 - 1, XAX 3634 - 1 Stampers : 1 H / 12 LVery good plus (VG+) condition vinyl (many would grade as "excellent", I am sure) - weighty, completely flat, and retaining a beautiful jet black lacquered sheen and coming across as virtually unmarked in normal daylight. It is only with close scrutiny under a bright light that just a few very wispy hairlines and extremely fine paper scuff lines come into view on both sides, along with a slightly more obvious (but still light and surface only) small scuff mark towards the circumference of side 1 (see photo) - all non-obvious, nothing feelable and appearing to be purely superficial as borne out by the excellent sound quality. Hard to believe that this vinyl is 58 years old. The labels are in excellent plus (EX+) condition - just a couple of small and barely discernible faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label, otherwise perfect. A solid very good (VG) condition Garrod & Lofthouse flipback outer sleeve - firm edges devoid of any scuffing, a rigid and unmarked spine with all spine text perfectly intact, nicely defined right angled corners with a little mild rubbing on each, firm opening edges with some very minor fraying on the front-side opening edge, and all colours, photos, art work and text remaining in great condition with perfect definition still. There are no areas of laminate lifting but there are x6 1-1.5cm horizontal laminate crinkles adjacent and perpendicular to the spine on the front side which do infringe upon the spine and onto the reverse side flipback - these relatively mild glitches are the most obvious blemish with the top and bottom flipbacks in excellent shape overall with just the occasional laminate crease. There is the hint of some very mild ring wear on the reverse side towards the left opening edge and you might come across one or two small and very mild handling/storage marks. Still fully functional and still highly presentable. Truly excellent (EX) mono sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, distortion or background crackle - wonderful tone and crystal clear stereo reproduction with brilliant sound quality throughout. You might come across just the very occasional (3 or 4) and random very light background clicks though I could find no obvious cause - probably a couple of tiny dust particles caught in the grooves through decades of storage - and certainly nothing to impinge upon a great listen. Comes with original very good plus (VG+) condition EMI advertising sleeve with no splits and just a little mild creasing and a couple of small light handling/storage/wear and tear surface marks; there is also the number "4698" written in a top corner (I have no idea what this number refers to). Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. A really nice condition copy of this 1968 UK original Pink Floyd classic, becoming increasingly hard to find with mono sound quality as impressive as this

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
