Description
For auction is a rare and great condition First U.K. mono issue of Pink Floyd’s second album - A Saucerful of Secrets from 1968.
The original first issue sleeve in EX- condition. Only issue is feathering to opening edges. Corners and spine in great condition. No writing or tears.
Original inner sleeve, with red print, in excellent condition.
Record visually is EX-to side one and EX- to side two. In normal daylight one can see just a couple of very fine hairlines on side one and a couple of scuff marks on side two, but otherwise a wonderful clean surface with great shine. Under a very bright lamp one can see a few more hairlines and sleeve removal marks, but there is nothing deep or feelable. XAX3633-1/3634-1 matrices. Labels are clean and unmarked apart from minor spindle marks.
The stamper numbers are the much sought after 1G/1G. These were the very first stampers and means that the record was likely among the first 1000 copies to be pressed.
Sonically both sides play at least as EX-, in that there is some minor crackle in quiet passages - for example at opening of side two track one - but no clicks, sticks skips or jumps. A good professional clean might improve the sound quality even more. Otherwise the sound is rich and clear.
This is a chance to own a great condition and complete copy of a rare and iconic record.
