PINK FLOYD "ANIMALS" (U.S.COLUMBIA )1977 PRESSING SEE BOTTOM PHOTO.......SEALED AND MINT
animals is a fine progressive rock album. The lenghty songs can be a bit off putting at first, but once you realized that the composition is great the album becomes pretty gripping. The concept is all about criticizing society (actually the names of the songs can be a reference to the famous book "animal farm", an anti communist story about pigs, dogs and sheep and other animals). The concept is great, and on a general level the instrumentals are good enough to make the lenghty songs seem short. The guitar playing is amazing, but the drumming fails a bit behind whilst the synths can be annoying. The singing is great, and i tend to wish that there were more singing sections in it. As usual there are alot of wandering moments, but these are contained and dont bother me much. Overal it is a pretty epic listen, but i feel it has quite some flaws that prevents it from being a classic release. The standout is pigs.
