Description
This first press of Animals is in excellent condition for 37 years old. The vinyl only has a few very faint hairlines but is one of the cleanest I have seen. You have to look under a bright light to detect them. This is not play tested but I imagine it plays extremely well for its age. It really is in excellent especially for a first press, uncommon to find one so good.
Released on the Harvest label in 1977 (SHVL 815)
The matrix numbers are A2/B2 and stampers 1 / R1.1 and 1 / GP
The original Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold sleeve is in excellent condition. There is a little wear at the top and bottom of the spine and some rubbing along the top edges but still has a strong wide spine that is 100% legible. The inside of the gatefold is in great condition with just slight creasing. The first opening edge is nearly 'unstuck' but could easily be glued back together. Most definitely one of best gatefolds I have seen of a first press.The lyric inner is in excellent condition with only a little wear around the edges, no rips or splits at all.

ALL RECORDS ARE PROFESSIONALLY PACKED IN STRONG MAILERS WITH CARDBOARD STIFFENERS. THE RECORDS ARE ALSO REMOVED FROM THEIR SLEEVES TO AVOID CUTTING THROUGH THE COVER AND PUT INTO A SEPARATE SLEEVE, AND THEN PLACED INSIDE A PVC SLEEVE.
