An excellent first UK press copy!! Hard to find these days without the EMI on the label and with its original Harvest inner bag! Early mother stampers.

While many consider Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall as the pinnacle of the Pink Floyd enigma, Atom Heart Mother was the album that, while retaining the wash of Sixties psychedelia, began to experiment with themes and concepts. The title track, intended originally as the theme for a western, is a massive undertaking of production and arrangement. Though it sounds sloppy by today's standards, for 1970 it was far ahead of its time. It moves through the various sections seamlessly, creating a mood of temporal dislocation. The cello parts are particularly fascinating-this is the only piece of music that has ever made me cry, it was just too beautiful to stand. Images of earthen pleasures and astral journeys to where stars have no names, this song represents an extraordinary talent for leaving the right spaces between the notes. "If", the second track, offers an almost pure and innocent look at the fear of oncoming madness ( a fear which would be later realized). The song is very laid back and touching. "Summer `68" is somewhat cheesy at times, though the trumpet sections are full of repentant anguish at succumbing to the pleasures of flesh (a groupie). Very bouncy, but still manages to be dark and Floydian. "Fat Old Sun" is my favorite of this album. Though badly recorded and mixed, the images of freedom in childhood, blissful endless summer where the twilight is eternal is about as mellow as you get. The guitar solo at the end is killer (listen to the bass line-its one of Water's best). "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" is kind of silly, though the voice of Alan making breakfast on morning glory seeds is just perfect. The song is somewhat rushed, but the last segment, Morning Glory, is fantastic. Can't even describe the feeling it gives me. Although flawed at times, Atom Heart Mother still stands as one of the most innovative albums ever written. The ultimate psychedelic fantasy.

I have played this in FULL> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! There are not any jumps, pops or skips. There is hardly any background noise at all!! Very remarkable for this 1970 vinyl!!! The heavy vinyl with high groovewalls provides a fantastic audio experience with channelling not equalled by the later CD version. I played this on my Technics turntable with a Linn cartridge and through my very revealing Rotel amp and B&W three way speakers!!! A beautiful CLASSIC with supreme songcraft, a joy to listen to!!!!

SO HARD TO FIND THIS FLOYD ALBUM IN THIS FANTASTIC CONDITION THIS WILL BE AN UPGRADE FOR MOST SERIOUS COLLECTORS. IT IS VERY HARD THESE DAYS TO STILL FIND THIS GEM IN THIS SMASHING CONDITION. IT WILL BE A LONG TIME BEFORE THIS TURNS UP AGAIN IN THIS GREAT CONDITION WITH AGAIN MORE TAKERS THAN EVER BEFORE. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT INVESTMENT PIECE.

Vinyl: EX.  I'm very happy to be able to present this FLOYD gem in this wonderful condition. The audio is simply sublime played on my Technics deck with Linn Sondek cartridge and through my Rotel amp and B&W speakers.  This vinyl sounds out of this world, a majestic album that showed that Floyd's stock was on the rise, commercially and artistically, a classic, not a million miles away from "The Dark Side of the Moon" in its scope and grandeur. 

 Unbelievably it has no hairlines or marks and just paper retraction traces only visible under a very strong light! Even a new vinyl would have this. The audio has beautiful separation and there is no background noise. I played this through in full and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was even tempted to keep this as it will be very hard to find this again, it is indeed mega rare now in this kind of condition. Needless to say NO jumps, clicks or ticks. 

Gatefold Sleeve: EX.  Fantastic looked after matt Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold sleeve incredibly for this album without any damage. Usually this sleeve would have sticker tears and creases but this copy belongs in the top 10% of copies.  The top and bottom edges have light storage wear. The spine is fully legible. There  are no marks or writing. A very respectable original sleeve. The winner will be very pleased indeed!! No writing,  no marks, no seam splits or tears. The inside gatefold is totally unmarked without any writing. The album still has its original inner Harvest advertising sleeve. This is an upgrade for most Floyd or prog collectors.

   This has the original inner Harvest advertising bag with iconic images of classic LP's like e.g. Bakerloo, Forest etc. It has light creasing but no seam splits.
