This listing features an incredibly rare FACTORY SEALED FIRST PRESSING of Pink Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother" released by Harvest Records in the early 1970's. What makes this particular album truly special is the fact that the clear title sticker was intentionally left off the shrink and the album was converted to the SMAS-382 variation officially introduced in the mid-70s.

This "conversion" from the earlier SKAO-382 variation to the SMAS-382 pressing was accomplished by simply placing the MEGA-RARE Red & White "SMAS" prefix sticker over the spine. So, not only is this an early SKAO-382 pressing, it's also the very first variation to feature the newer "SMAS" prefix introduced in the mid-1970s. Due to the rarity, its no surprise that this is one of the holy grail albums for the serious Pink Floyd collectors! The best part is that this is one of the few examples on the entire planet which is STILL FACTORY SEALED!

**SMAS Red & white sticker:

The original catalog number prefix (SKAO) for "Atom Heart Mother" was used by Harvest Records in 1970s.  The new prefix (SMAS) was subsequently used prior to new copies being printed with the new prefix on the album cover, the record company stuck a white sticker with a red "SMAS" on the spine over the old SKAO prefix number.

These "transitional albums" with the SMAS stickers are extremely scarce and only a few have survived! There's no question that this is one of the absolute rarest variants of all the albums in the Pink Floyd catalog! And finding an example still FACTORY SEALED in the ORIGINAL SHRINK makes this a TRUE GEM that any serious collector or Pink Floyd enthusiast would love to own!

CONDITION: The album offered here is still in the original factory shrink wrap and comes in solid NM- to NEAR MINT condition! As you can see, the original shrinkwrap has begun to separate around the mouth area. Approximately half of the mouth is completely sealed shut with the shrink in place, while the other half of the mouth is slightly opened.

The seams of the gatefold cover are still nice and tight. The spine is also clean. As you can see, a few of the corners do show some wear. All of this can be seen in the photos. The SMAS sticker does show some age discoloration. Not surprising considering the album is nearly 50 years old! PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS CAREFULLY PRIOR TO BIDDING!

FACTORY SEALED DESIGNATION:

Since its clear that the record has NEVER BEEN REMOVED from the album sleeve, it's STILL considered FACTORY SEALED by experts and serious collectors! So despite separation around the mouth, this example still qualifies as a "factory sealed" example.
