Description
This very early A3/B3 pressing is in stunning condition. Visually the vinyl looks amazing, I can't over estimate how good it looks! It is so clean I cannot detect any hairlines even under a bright light. It definitely retains that glossy lustre that you see with new vinyl and I would say this record has been hardly played, its quality is obvious to see. It comes complete with the obligatory posters and stickers. This pressing is highly collectible in its own right as it was the first one released after the solid blue triangle label first press.
I have listened to the entire LP and can confirm that the audio is deep and rich and plays with stunning clarity. 'Speak To Me' plays with almost zero static and 'Breathe' in the same way. 'On The Run' just has two pops during the middle but the remainder has no interference at all. The audio on 'Time' is breathtaking and has to equal the best I have heard on an A3/B3 pressing. 'Great Gig' has the slightest hint of static at the beginning and then plays almost like new. Even the quiet piano ending plays superbly well with almost zero static.
'Money' plays with stunning clarity, it has a couple of light clicks at the start but thereafter plays with superb quality, sonically it is stunning. 'Us And Them' has a hint of crackle but is very much in the background and does not interfere with the audio in my opinion. The final three tracks play with the same quality with perhaps just a little distortion on 'Eclipse' which is very common anyway and the heartbeat ending does play with crackle which is the only negative on the whole side really. The Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold cover has been very well looked after and only has minimal wear. To me it looks almost like the midnight blue of the A2/B2 and early A3/B3 pressings and certainly doesn't have the dark black cover of other pressings. If it is midnight blue perhaps its lustre has altered slightly by being kept in a plastic sleeve? The edges and spine are very clean as is the opening edge and the corners just have a little pinching. There is some light spotting on the cover but this is very common with this cover. Overall it is one of the best I have seen for an A3/B3 pressing. There is no writing on the cover or labels at all.
The original posters are in excellent condition with no marks, tears or pin holes. Amongst the best I have seen. The original 'Crack Back - Fasprint' stickers just have slight creasing and one of them does have a couple of tape marks on the reverse.
