A much “Enjoyed” copy of this classic album. Please read below for a full description.

Condition.

Gatefold Sleeve. 

There is visible wear to the front cover including: Circular pressure marks from the record itself, There are some ballpoint pen pressure lines where someone has used the sleeve as a writing board but there are no ink marks. There are some small creases at the opening points in the centre of the right edge and some light marks on the “Rainbow” design,  there is some edge wear to the openings. There is shelf wear to both top and bottom edges and the spine is worn with scuff marks and some staining. The wear to the rear of the cover includes circular pressure marks from the record itself, many small scuff marks around the Prism logo. There is some staining along the closed edge near the spine. Stamp in the corner is white and clear which shows the I.D mark SHVL 804 ( 1E 064 05249 ) stereo.

Inner Gatefold. 

Good overall with very few creases or marks down the centre spine. The Dark blue colour is still bright and clear with no marks on the “Rainbow / Heartbeat” running through the centre. The lyrics are all clean and clear with just some light scuffing to the top edges near the track listing and production details. Recording info in light blue marking the Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve is clear and bright but does have some light creases and scuff marks. There is a name and 2 letters written in dark blue pen, just visible on the top right edge of the inside cover.

Poly Liner. 

The polythene is creased as expected and has some staining around the inner “pull out” area. It is still glued to the inner sleeve on 1 side.

Inner sleeve.

Still remarkably good for it’s 40 years. Creases around each corner where the paper has folded around the record’s circumference. There are small tear’s around the circular opening on both sides. It has the “Made in Great Britain” stamp in the bottom right corner and the patent numbers 1125556 & 1072844 at the bottom left.

Band Poster.

Baring in mind how often in 40 years this has been unfolded, it is in exceptional condition. There is a “double crease” along one of the folds but no tears and no other creases, clean and crisp colours with no signs of fading and good clean edges.

Blue Pyramid Poster.

As above with a similar slight double crease along one of the folds, otherwise exceptional.

Stickers.

Both in excellent condition if not Mint. There is just a tiny, tiny ( less than half a mm ) curl to one corner of the “Brown” sticker and a slight yellowish crease to one corner of the yellow sticker. These imperfections are miniscule and hardly worth mentioning. No attempts have ever been made to peel the stickers and both have the split lined backs with “Crack Back” and “patent” printed on them.

Record Labels.

Nice smooth edges with no peeling / cracks or splits. Spindle holes have slight wear on sides 1 and 2. The silver text is nice and clear on both blue and black backgrounds. There is however evidence of small mould spots on both labels when held at a certain angle in the light.  

The Vinyl.

This can only really be described as fair. Because I have no turntable anymore I have to just describe the visible marks and not the audio quality. There are a lot of light scratches on both sides of the record and it looks as if it could do with a good clean. There are also some more severe scratches both across the tracks and a concentric scratch that runs along about 2 inches towards the closing section of “Breathe in the Air” and another long one through the middle of “Great Gig in the Sky”. Side 2 in particular has at least 8 visible scratches across all tracks. If I was able to play this record I suspect that it would contain some hiss and crackle together with the odd jump on the scratched sections mentioned. This record is by no means an Audiophiles delight but then I don’t expect over £450 for it as I’ve seen some EX++ copies sell for on here.  Side 1 run out Matrix reads: SHVL 804 A-2 . Side 2 run out Matrix reads: SHVL 804 B-2. So this is one of the first pressings. </??>

I have described the condition of this record as best I can without a play through. If you are after a Mint copy with no floors and everything in perfect condition then I respectfully suggest you look elsewhere.
