Description

Absolutely stunning first UK pressing with the solid light blue triangle on labels.

Matrix stamps: 3HVL 804 A-2/B-2.

This is a genuine first pressing, one owner, from my own original collection.

The following is a guide to identifying all the elements that make up the rare and much sought after first pressing:

1. The label has a solid blue prism. Subsequent pressings have a blue glowing inner edge prism with the centre black.
2. 'The Gramophone Co.' text is centered on label above prism.
3. A-2/B-2 matrix in dead-wax of run out groove.
4. Thick heavyweight vinyl believed by some to be the 'finest' and most true encapsulation of this historical recording as the first pressing was pressed direct from the original master-plate. "These 1st pressings were straight from the masters and nothing even gets close to them today. They play with a deep clear warm clarity and have to be heard to be believed!"
5. There is a distinct bluish-green tint/tinge in the black ink of the cover.
6. Gatefold sleeve that has a single right-side pocket and promo sticker.
7. Inner sleeve is a distinctive polythene lined die cut black semi matt paper with white printed text stating 2 patent numbers bottom left [112555/1072844] and 'MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN' bottom right.
8. Posters and stickers were printed on paper stock that has a rough texture (later pressings used paper that was gloss laminated).
9. Stickers have printed backs with diagonal lines across them.

This album has all of the above

The vinyl is in excellent condition - matrices are A-2 and B-2. Grooves have no surface marks under a bright light! Slight surface noise, expected from vinyl of this age. Both sides perfectly clean, no writing, no marks, no spindle hole wear. This is a genuine 'one-owner' example having been purchased brand new and played carefully and sparingly ever since its release, I have two other copies (one later edition and one CD) this has been stored more than played.

Has first issue cover Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold sleeve with the dark green-blue colour. Has the promo sticker on front cover also has 'SHVL 804 (IE 064-05249) stereo' in the top right corner of the back cover. Inside gatefold has 'printed and made by Garrod and Lofthouse ltd' in blue text in lower left corner. Sleeve in good condition. No writing, no tears or rips minor rubbing. perfect inner gatefold, very little bad to say about it - slight edge wear is all, great for a 38 year old - see pictures for details.

Has the original black plastic lined inner sleeve with Made in Great Britain in silver ink in bottom right and 2 patent numbers bottom left 112555, 1072844. in excellent condition.

Unused blue pyramid poster and group poster with shvl 804 in bottom right corner. near mint. see pictures. Stickers: 2 original unused sticker postcards with diagonal lines across the back.

Undoubtedly one of the best examples you'll find of this increasingly scarce genuine first pressing!

Don't miss this opportunity to get a great original pressing of this 38 year old classic.

A beautiful addition to your collection!

Happy Bidding
