Description
RARE ORIGINAL 1st PRESSING COMPLETE WITH STICKERS AND POSTERS - PLEASE READ ON...
Artist: Pink Floyd
L.P. title: The Dark Side Of The Moon
Label: Harvest / EMI (Stereo SHVL 804)
Country of manufacture: United Kingdom
Condition: Vinyl - EX. The vinyl itself is very glossy with that 'as new' shine. It is only under extreme inspection that just TWO VERY LIGHT surface marks are apparent. I have listened completely through the album on a Technics SL1210 turntable with new Stanton stylus and it plays beautifully. There are no crackles, pops, skips, sticks or any other distortion to the sound quality. EXTREMELY light static can be heard during quieter passages but nothing any different from a brand new record. In fact I opened a completely sealed unplayed record shortly after listening through this and it had as much, if not more, static between tracks!!! I think you'd be hard pushed to find a copy of this album in a better 'listening' state!!!
Labels - EX. Both sides are completely clean of any writing, sticker damage or any other markings. There is only a few VERY LIGHT spindle marks that are only visible if record is tilted and viewed under bright light.
Sleeve - VG+. The gatefold sleeve has very light shelf wear to outter surfaces. All corners are LIGHTLY softened. A tab (10mm X 35mm) with the previous owners name has been stuck onto the inside of the sleeve but I'm sure this could be professionally removed without any major damage. The spin and seams are completely free of any tear or splits and only suffer from very light wear.
Inner sleeve - VG. Original black polylined inner is in excellent condition apart from two tears on one side around the die cut centre (one measuring 40mm, the other 20mm). Please note - in the photos below, the labels are pictured in a white inlay sleeve so they can be seen clearer. If I had scanned the labels in the original inlay the polyliner would have distracted from the detail and I didn't want to lay the vinyl bare on the scanner surface.
Stickers and posters - N/M. Both the original stickers are in fantastic condition, free of any markings, tears or folds - truely superb! The posters are also in their 'as new' state - again, free of any tears, marks or folding (they are obviously folded up, but there is no ADDITIONAL folds that were not made at time of manufacture). Neither the stickers or posters have been removed from the sleeve for any other reason than viewing - they have not been used in any other way.
Track listing: Side A - 1. Speak To Me. 2. Breathe. 3. On The Run. 4. Time. 5. The Great Gig In The Sky. Side B - 1. Money. 2. Us And Them. 3. Any Colour You Like. 4. Brain Damage. 5. Eclipse.
Additional comments: Extremely rare ORIGINAL 1ST PRESSING with SOLID BLUE TRIANGLE label. Markings on run-out groove read as follows - Side A: 'SHVL 804 A - 2' (directly below label), 'M H' (directly to the right hand side of label) and '2' (to the left hand side of label). Side B: 'SHVL 804 B - 2' (positioned on the left hand side of label), 'RG' (positioned at 5 oclock) and '2' (directly above label). The sleeve is the very dark blue colour that at first appears to be black but when held under bright light has a clear blue tint to it. The EMI and Harvest logos on the inside of sleeve are both blue (see pics - again proof of a 1st pressing). The stickers and posters are definite originals - this is clearly visible from the pictures below. I have graded everything STRICTLY to the Record Collector standards. If anything, I have undergraded to avoid disappointment. All extras included are ORIGINALS from the same package - they have not been put together from different albums to bring the condition up to standard - in other words this is not a miss match of items - the record, sleeve, inner, stickers and poster were bought as one when the album was released and have stayed together to this day - carefully looked after. I personally know the previous owner of this album who has been collecting vinyl for over40 years and knows how to look after it.
I have tried to include all information I think any potential buyer needs to know, but if there is anything I have missed or any additional questions need answering please email me - I will get back to you as soon as I can (usually within 24 hours).
