Pink Floyd : The Dark Side Of The Moon A10 / B9 5th Pressing w/ Posters & Stickers

This pressing is so close to being the finest example I have ever listened to!  The clarity, depth, power and warmth of the audio is sensational and the only intrusion is a little static / crackle right at the end of 'On The Run' mainly on the fade out.  I have graded that track as Ex+ but the vast majority does play with stunning quality.  As for the rest of this classic album - just wow!  There are so many highlights, too numerous to mention really, but 'Time' and 'The Great Gig...' play in spectacular fashion and all of S2 is just incredible, including the 'cleanest' version of 'Us And Them' I think I have ever heard, a rarity in itself because it so often plays with some background on the intro.

The vinyl is also in lovely condition with only a couple of very faint marks which have zero affect on the immaculate audio.

The iconic G & L cover has been so well looked after and has only the bare minimum of wear, it has retained its original shape and structure perfectly.  The original posters and stickers are also in superb condition and the original inner just has some faint spotting.

This is known as a fifth pressing with 'Breathe In The Air' on the label, and Pink Floyd Music Publ on both labels.  Harry and HTM are etched on the runs offs, relating to Harry T Moss of course, the famous cutting engineer.  That is just one reason why the sonic quality is so incredible on this album!

Visual description

The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a fine glossy sheen with no obvious marks or scratches.  Under a strong bright light I can only see a small number of faint hairlines.  A small one at the end of S1 is just a little more obvious, but only when you hold the vinyl at a certain angle, and it has no affect on the audio.  S2 has a couple of small faint blemishes / surface rubs on the opening grooves of the first track but again they are purely superficial as they have no impact on the pristine audio.  They are very faint.  The run out grooves are super clean although the matrix info has not been well stamped and the EMI labels are immaculate with no marking or spindle wear.

Play grading

The heartbeat intro on 'Speak To Me' plays with great clarity, there is barely any background, and as the clocks / spoken voice come in the audio is perfect.  As the volume increases the playback is just as strong and clear and Torry's end 'vocal' is faultless.  This is easily a Near Mint start if not better.

The segue into 'Breathe' is perfect and the opening section is 'as new' also.  The first verse has no background and the second just has one very quiet tick, totally non-intrusive.  Mint-

'On the Run' has a couple of static ticks on the opening section, just one is a little more obvious, and from then on it plays with stunning clarity, depth and warmth.  The 'crash' and running man 'play' with incredible clarity also and the only intrusion is some static / crackle once per revolution for the final few seconds so overall I will grade as Ex+

The 'clocks' intro on 'Time' reverberate with great power and depth and no interference.  The 'metronome' section has literally no background and 'as new' is a correct description again.  The first verse and 'chorus' play with sublime clarity and Gilmour's iconic solo is superb and if there is any distortion it is so so minimal.  The final vocal section is as good as the first and Mint- is well deserved.

The 'Breathe Reprise' is perfect from start to finish with not even a dust tick.  Mint

The gentle piano intro on 'The Great Gig In The Sky' plays beautifully and the spoken section has only one barely audible static.  A STUNNING start.  Torry's first vocal is so strong and powerful, there is no distortion, and the quieter section that follows plays with wonderful clarity also.  It continues in the same way to the very end, the audio is phenomenal when you consider how quiet this end section is.  So delicate and yet each note is so clean precise.  There are 3/4 very quiet statics on the audio 'uplift' / fade out but overall I truly believe Mint- is an honest appraisal of the audio.  It is a remarkable version and you would be hard pressed to find a better one.

---------------------------------------------------------

The cash register / bass intro on 'Money' plays with exceptional quality and the opening two verses have no background either.  An 'as new' start.  The instrumental is STUNNING through every section.  Beginning with the sax solo, followed by Gilmour's solo, the playback could not be any more impressive.  Every note so clean and distinct, impeccable separation.  The final verse more than keeps up the standard and the closing instrumental / spoken section is flawless.  Without doubt a Mint version.

The segue into 'Us And Them' is perfect and the classic intro is stunning with only a couple of barely noticeable statics, I have no idea why I even mention them!  The sax part is Mint - this long intro is often susceptible to some background, static or otherwise, but the clarity of sound is STUNNING.  The opening vocal is also background free and the first 'chorus' is so impressive, with a depth and power that is up there with the best of them.  The next vocal has a couple of very quiet ticks at the beginning but from then on you cannot fault the playback.  The sonic quality throughout this classic is of the highest calibre and the powerful backing vocal / sax section just prior to the final vocal is a case in point.  Just wow!  To the end it plays with sublime quality and that includes the fade out.  This is definitely Mint- at the very least.  It is the most 'complete' version I have heard in a long time.

'Any Colour You Like' then plays with a clarity, depth and power that is second to none and I even heard a couple of audio 'moments' I haven't noticed before on earlier pressings.  Maybe it's just me!  Regardless of that it plays with Mint precision from the first note to the last.

The intro on 'Brain Damage' has zero intrusion and Waters' opening vocal is just as clean.  As the volume increases into the first 'chorus' the depth on the audio is staggering.  They say the A2/B2, A3/B2 and A3/B3 pressings are the best sonically but I have to say this one runs them a very close second!  The next vocal has a couple of barely audible statics and the final vocal is 100% perfect as is the closing instrumental / spoken section.  I'm going to have to say Mint again - the audio demands it!

'Eclipse' then ends this stunning album with wonderful power and depth and rarely there is no distortion.  I can't quite believe how well these two final classics play.  The sonic 'landscape' is breathtaking and even the heartbeat outro has no background, how rare is that!  A superb Mint conclusion to a near perfect album.

The Gatefold, Posters & Stickers & Inner Sleeve

This G & L cover is in lovely condition with very little wear.  The edges are pristine and the spine remains strong and wide with no marking.  Nearly all the corners are in superb order with only the bottom right one having a minor amount of rubbing.  That's the only 'obvious' wear really!  The opening edge has only minimal handling wear and the front cover is so clean with no marking and only a small number of insignificant small edge creases around the edges.  The back cover if anything is even better!  The inside of the gatefold is in lovely condition also with only very minimal surface rub by the top edges and one minor indentation mark on each panel also.  A stunning example overall.

The original posters are in superb condition with no rips or tears and no creasing either.  The pyramid one has some light surface type rubbing in the top right corner and on the reverse side the paper is kind of blue.  A print issue I think with the sky trying to get through!  The original stickers are in superb shape with no obvious marking, creasing etc and the original EMI inner sleeve has no side splits or tears and barely any creasing.  It does have some minor spotting on both sides which is a little strange!  No other marking though.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
