Pink Floyd : The Dark Side Of The Moon A2 / B2 1st Press 'Solid Blue' 1973 (Complete)
This iconic album plays to a very high standard and with only minimal intrusion. There are no clicks or pops and no obvious ticks either. As you can see from my grading below the only 'real' background as such is some very light static on 2/3 tracks with just a little more on the first track intro. However, the clarity, depth and warmth of the audio for the vast majority is stunning and 'The Great Gig In The Sky' is easily one of the finest versions I have ever heard, it truly is exceptional. 'Brain Damage' and 'Eclipse' end the album with incredible audio also and sonically they could hardly be any stronger. There is no skip on 'Money' just to confirm. I have sold about 20 first pressings over the years and not one of them has had the skip! The vinyl itself is in excellent condition and the solid blue labels have no spindle wear!
The G & L midnight blue cover I would grade as VG+ but that is mainly due to some surface rub here and there, nothing extensive though. It comes complete with the original poly-lined black inner which is in superb condition and the original posters and stickers which are Near Mint and Ex respectively.
Some of the first press covers did come with the sticker on the front and thepinkfloydarchives online confirms this. The stickers have PERMANENT in red ink on the back and again these were the issued with later editions of the first pressing.

Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy sheen with no scratches. Under a bright light S1 is stunning with only a small number of ultra faint hairlines and S2 is similar but with four small ones towards the end of the side in one area that are a little more obvious. However, they are superficial as they have no impact on the superb audio, they are not scratches! They can still only be seen when you hold the vinyl at a certain angle. There is no groove or surface wear and it is certainly a very clean example of this famous record. The Solid Blue labels are in superb shape with no marking and next to no spindle wear.
Play Grading
The iconic heartbeat intro on 'Speak To Me' has some light background static but there is barely any by the time you hear the first spoken section. As it builds the audio is superb - deep and rich with no intrusion. The clarity and depth of the audio on this closing section is so strong. I will grade the first part of the intro as VG+ and from then onwards it is Near Mint at the very least.
The segue into 'Breathe' is faultless and the intro is close to that with only a small number of minor statics. The first verse plays with stunning clarity and warmth and the second verse is just as strong and clear with no intrusion at all. The intro is Near Mint- but the verses easily grade as Mint such is the quality.
'On The Run' plays with phenomenal audio throughout. The intro / opening section have a clarity of sound you so rarely hear. Each note / tannoy vocal / footstep is so clean and precise, you miss nothing. It continues to play with a clarity that is second to none and the depth and definition is just outstanding. There are no ticks, clicks, pops or static - the playback is so incredibly clean! The crash is loud and powerful with barely any distortion and again on the quiet closing section you can hear every step / breath. There is a very minor whoosh / static sound in the background but please believe me when I say it is extremely quiet! The vast majority here is Mint and I will grade the end section as Near Mint-
The clocks segue into 'Time' is as clear and powerful as you would want it to be! A stunning start. The metronome intro is very clean with only the bare minimum of very light background static and Gilmour's first verse then plays with sublime clarity and warmth. Wright's first vocal is equal to that and Gilmour's mid solo plays with a clarity and power that cannot be faulted. The final vocal section is as good as the first and again the warmth and definition of the audio is of the highest calibre. I will grade the intro as Ex+ but from then on Mint- is very much deserved.
'Breathe Reprise' plays beautifully from start to finish with literally no intrusion. 100% clarity and warmth etc and... Mint
The quiet piano intro on 'The Great Gig In The Sky' plays with astounding clarity - no background aside from a couple of barely audible statics and I really do mean barely audible! The first spoken piece is flawless and Torry's first vocal is well.... mind-blowing! The power and depth of her voice is STUNNING, it just could not play any better. I turned it up to max and there is zero distortion, the playback is remarkably clean. As the volume decreases the clarity is still there and this next piano / vocal section plays with a precision you so rarely find. It proceeds in the same way and I really cannot express enough how unbelievably good this classic track is. There are a couple of minor statics but they do not detract from the audio at all and I only mention them to be 'complete' with my grading as they are so very quiet. The even quieter end section plays with stunning clarity and warmth and as the note rises at the end there is still no background. This is easily one of the finest examples of this classic that I have ever heard and it has to grade as Mint- which is rather impressive for an A2/B2 first pressing it has to be said!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cash register / bass intro on 'Money' plays very clearly with only the lightest of background static which is totally non-intrusive. The first verse has barely any static and the second is even better. The mid instrumental then plays with incredible power and definition. The sax section is close to perfect with hardly any background and Gilmour's following solo is breathtaking! It is so clean and dynamic and has no intrusion. As the volume decreases the audio is perfect and the remainder of this classic section plays like the record was pressed only yesterday! The closing vocal plays with exceptional clarity and the spoken end section has only a handful of very quiet statics towards the end. The opening section is Ex+ and thereafter I think Near Mint is a fair assessment of the audio although it has to be said the vast majority is stronger than that.
The intro on 'Us And Them' plays very clearly with only very light background static and again it is not intrusive. I am just being upfront, it really is very quiet. The opening vocal has a couple of super quiet ticks at the start, very little statics and only a couple of other minor static sounds. I am just pointing out any background it still plays exceptionally well! The first 'chorus' plays with stunning power and depth and the next vocal passage has no background, the warmth and depth of the audio is again so so impressive. Another 'as new' chorus and then the piano / short sharp shock... spoken section could not play with any greater precision. The end of this instrumental plays with supreme power and resonance - you can turn it up to max without fear of distortion, it sounds fantastic! The closing verse / chorus section is 'as new' and again I cannot put into words just how strong and definite the playback is. A genuine classic of course with an Ex+ opening section but from then on Mint- is 100% deserved.
'Any Colour You Like' plays with great quality through every section, I really cannot fault it. For once there is no static distortion and the audio is very clean from start to finish. Mint- is fair.
The intro on 'Brain Damage' plays with sublime clarity and Waters' opening vocal is nigh on perfect with only a couple of minor statics, no need to mention them really. The first 'chorus' is spectacular! The power and definition is out of this world which is quite apt! The next quieter vocal section has a stunning clarity of sound and the next chorus is as strong and pristine as the first. This is a superb version... the end instrumental / spoken piece has no background and overall it has to grade as Mint- it truly is a STUNNING version.
The classic 'Eclipse' ends the album in fine style with no interference. Sonically it is so strong and the power and definition of the audio envelops the entire room. Best play it loud with the lights off! If there is any inner groove distortion it is so minimal and obviously not intrusive. It's a superb powerful version for sure. And the quiet heartbeat ending has only minimal light static and you can clearly hear the ...matter of fact it's all dark spoken vocal. Overall I think Near Mint is fair for this classic conclusion.
The Gatefold, Inner Sleeve, Posters & Stickers
The 'midnight blue' G & L cover is in very good condition with not too much wear and indeed there are many excellent aspects. For example three of the edges are very clean and only the bottom edge of the front cover has some rubbing which is a little more obvious. The spine is in excellent shape with only light wear on the corners and a couple of minor 'rubs' and the right hand corners are very clean aside from the bottom right one which has a little more wear. The opening edge is in lovely condition with hardly any handling wear. The front cover itself is very clean but it does have some surface rub mainly around the edges but clearly not an extensive amount. The original sticker is unmarked and is only very slightly loose on a couple of edges. The back cover is similar although it looks more like ringwear here, a little more by the bottom edge also. The inside of the gatefold is in great condition with only very minimal surface rub around the edges, nothing to be concerned about as it is very minor. Overall then a very respectable example of this iconic cover.
The original poly-lined black inner sleeve is in superb condition with no side splits or tears, barely any marking and just some light creasing here and there. It has the Patent Nos and Made In Great Britain on one side of course.
The original posters are in superb condition with barely any wear and the original stickers are very clean with only a couple of adjacent creases running through them.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
