Pink Floyd, The Dark Side Of The Moon.
1978 France pressed EMI Harvest (Pathe Marconi) Disque En Couleur series stereo LP, DC 13.
Limited Edition clear vinyl pressing (although to me there is a hint of whiteness to this one) housed in gatefold sleeve without inserts.
This one has the scarce "Special Disque En Couleur" sticker still attached to the outer cellophane.
Vinyl VG. In some respects this is a conservative grading. There are some spider trail marks evident at the centre spindle areas, but not excessively so, and the labels are clean and undefaced.
Checking clear vinyl for marks is not the easiest task, but with the aid of a magnifying glass it is hard to detect any damage aside from just a couple of very light and non-feelable scuff marks.
Playback does show some crackle and soft ticks here and there however. How much of this is inherent in press and how much is due to condition of the vinyl surfaces is difficult to assess accurately, but a VG grade is about right for the actual playback. Noise is not continuous throughout and generally the louder parts play very well with background noise being mainly heard during quieter segments.
Inner sleeve is original non die-cut paper with French copyright wording to bottom third of one panel. This is clean and unmarked but fairly creased. There is a neat split to the entire length of the bottom edge and a couple of neat centre splits to sides.
External sleeve still has cellophane in place and it appears that the gatefold has clearly never been opened in entirety. The cello is intact and has been opened neatly at entry side. There is a neat split to the cello at the bottom edge of the sleeve, about half length of entire bottom edge. There is also a loose flap of cello (without loss) measuring around an inch square, to top left of rear panel. The cello is quite bubbled to the rear panel, which appears to be as issued.
The sticker to cello is intact and without any attempt at peeling, although it has taken on some very minor rubbing darkening and some very minor hairline impression marks.
The sleeve retains good brightness and gloss beneath the cello. However, it has sustained some areas of minor damage. A touch of whitening rubbing to all corners bar top left, although all retain good shape without rounding. There is very slight whitening rubbing to the edges of the sleeve at the two points where splits in the cello occur. These areas are without fraying or splitting to the sleeve however.
To the top of the sleeve at front panel there is a small whitening line which appears to be a small tear in the fabric of sleeve at top. Given that this is in an area well covered by cello, and that the sleeve is crisp and unworn around this area, it may be that this is a fault which is present in manufacture.
In summary an imperfect issue, but without any glaring faults, and scarce to find this one with the original sticker still attached.
