Here's an outstanding ‘day of release’ copy of this world-class collectible, with the highly desirable solid blue triangle labels and all the extras (two sheets of stickers, two posters and the black inner) in beautiful shape. Here’s a detailed description of the package:
SLEEVE
The unlaminated gatefold sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition, with minimal wear. There’s barely any ringwear, the spine is undamaged and there's no writing or splits. This copy has the blue tinge and the front panel is glued shut (with a card flap folded in), indicating that it has not been switched for a later copy. This is as about good as you could realistically hope for.
VINYL
The glossy first-pressing vinyl is in beautiful condition, and seems only to have been played once or twice. There's a tiny, non-sounding flaw on side two that seems to be a pressing issue, and has no effect on playback. This disc looks and sounds terrific. The run-off matrix numbers are SHVL 804 A-2 and SHVL 804 B-2 (there were no A-1 / B-1 matrices for this album).
LABELS
Both labels are in terrific condition, with tiny spindle traces indicating careful / minimal play. Both sides have a little dark smudge on them (see pictures), which clearly happened at the printing stage, rather than being the fault of any previous owner. The correct first-printing ‘The Gramophone Company Limited’ and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ text is present and correct.
INNER SLEEVE
The original polylined / die-cut black inner is in great shape, and has the correct ‘Patent’ and ‘Made In Great Britain’ text printed in white.
POSTERS
Both posters are printed on thick, glossy paper stock, indicating a first print-run, and are in immaculate condition.
STICKERS
Both sheets of stickers are in perfect, unpeeled and undamaged condition.
This is a truly beautiful copy of a tremendous album.
