This is an Aussie QUADRAPHONIC pressing
This is the first and only issue of The Pink Floyd masterpiece "The Dark Side Of The Moon" to be pressed on Pink Vinyl
The vinyl is high quality and weighs a solid 145 grams approx.
SQ - The record allows splitting to four channel Quadraphonic or two channel Stereo
There were only 3000 of these pressed
Side A: Matrix # QHVL 804 A-3 SHVLA 804-A
Side B : Matrix # QHVL 804 B-3 SHVLA 804-B
(SQ) - This record will play on both Stereo & Quadraphonic systems.
This record will split to four channels on a quad system, or will split to two channels on a stereo system.
The playback quality from these Australian pink SQ pressings is magnificent, pressed on high quality vinyl.
The clarity is exceptional, and sounds a lot better than the 1087 black vinyl issue.
In my humble opinion, the original Aussie SQ pink vinyl editions are one of the best issues to have in your collection.
For sound, the UK First issues are number one, but these are number two on the list in my mind, because you get so much else:
Official (most important)
Quadraphonic or Stereo playback.
The appropriate colour for Pink Floyd... Pink, a lovely salmon pink
The Limited Edition and rarity of only 3000 Pressed vs many millions of rabid fans worldwide

This is a real show piece that really plays extremely well
This was pressed as an afterthought in 1988 when Pink Floyd toured Australia on the Momentary Lapse Of Reason tour.
There was an official Australian SQ pressing in black Vinyl in 1987, so that issue had been completed a few months prior.
When this limited pink vinyl issue was pressed, there were no posters or stickers issued with it, and the sleeve is exactly the same one used for the black vinyl issue, just with the Limited Tour Edition sticker stuck on it.
It was sold in record stores in early 1988
These are the only 3000 OFFICIAL pink vinyl pressings of Dark Side Of The Moon in the world.
Over 30 Million copies sold, only 3000 on pink vinyl.
The reissues are different and are not official.
The sticker is not a sticker - it is actually printed on the sleeve, and the print says Limited Edition Coloured Vinyl, NOT Pink vinyl...
The audio is terrible on the unofficial reissues and even though it has the SQ logo on the sleeve, it is not Quadraphonic - it will NOT split to 4 channels on a Quadraphonic system
Be wary of these without the sticker, as they are more likely an unofficial reissue placed into a black vinyl SQ sleeve.
The only difference between the Australian black vinyl SQ sleeve and the pink vinyl SQ sleeve, is the sticker.
This brilliant album was engineered to be heard in Quadraphonic,
Because the quadraphonic mix of the album was not complete when the stereo issue was released, Pink Floyd boycotted their own press reception that was held at the London Planetarium on 27th of February 1973.
Pink Floyd considered the album to be complete ONLY when the original Quadraphonic issue was released in December 1973.
The guests were, instead, presented with four life-sized cardboard cut-outs of the band, and the stereo mix of the album was presented through a poor-quality PA system
