PINK FLOYD Dark Side of the Moon - SOLID BLUE TRIANGLE

You are about to bid on a VERY HARD TO FIND copy of PINK FLOYD's DARK SIDE OF THE MOON in a GATEFOLD ALBUM STYLE.  This isn't just the regular, run of the mill DSotM, either.  It is the original first press released and made in Great Britian in 1973.

Since this item is likely to attract a lot of SERIOUS collectors, I'll note my observations in seperate catagories and refrain from assigning a letter grade like NM or EX+, because they are subjective and I prefer to tell you exactly what I see. I tried to include the best, most detailed photos I could manage. Refer to the photos for clarification of my details, below.

Gatefold album cover. FRONT: Color appears to be more of a midnight blue than a solid black. Shelf wear is evident with general wear and some light creases. The DSotM sticker in the upper right corner appears to be slightly faded, but is otherwise undamaged.

                                REAR:   Similar color, shelf wear and light creasing as the front.  Top right corner has a TINY print stating  "SHVL 804 (IE 064 - 05249) STEREO"

                                SPINE: All my other versions of DSotM have the album title and stock#(ex. smas11163) along the spine.  This copy has no writing on the spine except for the white light travelling between the front and back prisms.

Inside of Gatefold cover. LEFT SIDE: Standard track listing and lyrics as seen on other versions, EXCEPT, the bottom left corner has the EMI / Harvest copyright printed in BLUE(see included photo).

                                    RIGHT SIDE: Similar credits and lyrics as other versions, BUT, the "Copyright TRO Hampshire House" bit is missing in favor of the EMI label on the left side, mentioned above.

                                    The inside of the gatefold has fewer light creases and fingerprints.  NO SEAM SPLITS. 

The top and bottom edges have more shelf wear than the outside of the gatefold cover, indicating it was stored vertically for the majority, if not entirety of its' life.

Black Poly lined Album Sleeve - Wrinkles from handling. It doesn't look like it was crumpled, just wrinkled in places. There is a small tear in the black paper around the poly windows at the center of each side, but they do not expose the record through the poly.  There is a tiny (1/4 inch or 5mm) hole in the poly window on one side, but it exposes the center label, not the album surface.  On the back side at the bottom are 2 white ink stamps.   "PATENT Nos. 1125555" with "1072864" directly under the 1st#.  The 2nd stamp says "MADE IN GREAT BRITIAN".

Finally, the album, itself.

                                    Side 1: Clean centered label with minimal wear around the center ring. Nice glossy shine to the record. Two arcing scuffs mar the surface, but can only be seen under a light and cannot be felt with a fingernail through a piece of cheesecloth(didn't want to add to the damage, but I have no turntable). I can't guess at what made it, but it certainly doesn't look like a needle scratch. My camera couldn't pick it up under a number of lighting and angle attempts. But the glossy shine came out well in the camera flash.  DEADWAX #'s  -  SHVL 804 A - 2  with, what looks like a  G W  place about 1/3 of the way around the deadwax from the "SHVL 804 A-2" counterclockwise. It's a very light stamp, so I can't be sure.

                                    Side 2: Clean label. I can't see any wear around the center ring. The label is slightly off center, noted by the off center black dot in the center of the triangle where it was meant to be punched, if it weren't for the misalignment.  DEADWAX #'s for side two -  SHVL 804 B - 2 without the added G W noted on the front side. Also noted is the run-out in the deadwax cuts through the label as if the label was in place before the run-out was cut.  The luster is as great as side 1, and this side appears to be NM with no marks noted of any kind under a bright light.
