Description
For sale here is a super copy of Pink Floyds iconic "Dark side of the moon" album. Comes with all the attributes of an original 2nd UK pressing. Black gatefold cover. (2nd presses came with EITHER dark blue or black) The Gramophone Co Ltd printed around the labels. Matrices are A3 and B2. Black poly lined inner sleeve with patent numbers etc in silver print. Both posters, printed on heavier matt paper than later issues. Both postcard/stickers.
Suffice to say that the solid blue label 1st UK pressings appear as regular as clockwork on eBay, and are not quite as "rare" as some people like to claim! as you normally see between 3 and 5 for sale EVERY week. What is far more unusual to find, is a copy of the 2nd UK pressing with A3/B2 matrix numbers. To find a cared for example like this is quite a rarity after nearly 50 years. Stored within a plastic outer cover since day one, this one is a beauty. I will give a detailed description of each part, but please look at the photographs very closely.
The cover: Original black Garrod and Lofthouse Ltd gatefold cover time dated 7303 (March 1973). No shelfwear to bottom edge at all. One 10mm white spot to top edge. Spine is perfect. Nothing else worthy of note, but to be particularly fussy, the very slightest hint of disc impression is evident, but for its years, I am being very picky indeed. Cover grades a solid EXCELLENT
Inner sleeve: A nice example of the original black poly-lined inner sleeve, but does have some damage. Somewhere in its history it has split at both side edges. One edge has been glued, the other taped. This is a shame that the owner bothered really, but the vinyl has been stored in another poly-lined inner for years and I have now housed it in a brand new anti-static poly inner. Due simply because of the side edge damage I am only grading as very good.
Posters: Both posters are present. Both are in super condition with just the fold marks present. No pin holes. No blue tack. No splits, rips, tears or issues. Printed on a much heavier and matt paper as per first and early issues. I grade both posters as EXCELLENT.
Postcard/stickers: Both postcards are present. Both unused. No pin holes, sticky tape, blue tack. No issues with either. Both have no creases or damage of any kind. Really these are as good as you will find. I grade these at EXCELLENT PLUS.
The vinyl: Really the vinyl on this copy is great. Visually there is the odd light sleeve withdrawal mark when viewed at an angle in strong electric light, but again I am being picky here. The lead in to both sides have maybe 10 seconds of light crackle before the music kicks in. If you view the last of the 12 photos, I have tried to capture the small mark on side 2 track 1 (Money), which causes a "pop" on about 6 revolutions of the disc. Mother/stamper combinations are:- Side 1, 1/GMM and side 2, 3/GLP. VERY early.
As a complete and original second UK pressing with the A3 and B2 matrix numbers, both posters and stickers, I really have to grade overall as excellent. Somebody is going to be very happy!!

If an overseas ebayer wants this, please contact me before bidding to discuss postal options. I DO NOT make anything on the postage. I charge the exact cost (often less) that I pay. I DO NOT charge for packing materials and I try to use recycled packing anyway. I also dress all my albums in a brand new heavyweight plastic cover and a brand new anti-static inner sleeve. All vinyl is packed outside of the cover and 2 stiffeners are used in transit. I have sold many valuable vinyls over the years and am often credited with Fort Knox style packing. Please bid with peace of mind that what you see is what you get.
