Description
Over the next few weeks and months I will be putting up for auction a quite lovely collection of Pink Floyd albums. These will, in part, be some of my personal collection and part some items being sold for friends. They will all be of excellent quality, some even better than that. They will include some UK 1st pressings, and if not they will be extremely early pressings. All matrix/mother/stamper combinations will be listed (so long as they are readable!) so you can tell exactly what you are bidding on. All gradings are given both visually and by play-grading, strictly to record collector guidelines.
So here we have Floyds most iconic title. "The Dark Side of The Moon". UK 2nd pressing with "The Gramophone Co Ltd" text around the rim and the second earliest A3 / B2 matrices. This without doubt is the best second press copy I have ever listed for sale. The audio quality is seriously out of this world and would put ANY A2/B2 copy to the sword. This has been fully play-graded. So good I have just played it 3 times on the trot. Plays with almost total silence. I am very sure you would never find a copy that plays better than this. It is an absolute stunner.
Included in the sale are a few additional items. "The dark side of the moon" book from John Harris which details the making of the album with photographs and rich archive material. A brand new coaster depicting the heartbeat logo used on the album artwork. A brand new gel pen also depicting the album artwork.
- Blue tinted original cover is in a really good solid condition condition. It does have rub wear as these blue covers were so prone to. All this is evident in the detailed photos. No shelf-wear at all and retains almost a new look. Graded as very good plus (VG+).
- Vinyl is in far better than great shape. No marks worthy of note. Supremely well cared for example. 135 grams in weight. Matrices are A3 / B2. Side one mother/stamper is 3 RRR. Side 2 is 1 RGG. A really early pressing and of course should sound great, and it does, and is without the infamous skip on "Money". Graded as visually excellent plus (Ex+).
- Both posters are in great shape without damage. There is some discolouration to the rear from age, but no pin holes, blue-tack etc etc. Graded as excellent.
- Both sticker/postcards are present and in pristine condition. Graded as excellent plus.
PLAYGRADING:- I am going to be so seriously picky here. The album is just so good that I feel I need to grade it very very accurately. Side 1 starts with the heartbeat and is almost silent. Not quite, but about as good as it gets really. There is one little dust "pop" at the end of track 2. There is another dust pop during track 3. The rest of the side plays superbly. The segue between tracks 3 and 4 before the clocks kick in on "Time" is silent. On the last few seconds before the run out there are 8 soft ticks as the music fades. Side 2 is faultless from start to finish. I do not grade a used album any higher than Ex+. This grades Ex+
So all in all a really lovely copy and would grace any collection in my view.
All albums will be housed in a brand new heavy duty polythene cover. All vinyl's will be housed in a new anti-static inner sleeve. I pack my albums for transit in the most secure packaging imaginable and send 1st class signed for postage with The Royal Mail. I only charge exactly what it costs me!
I accept returns if I am notified immediately upon you receiving the album. This has to be due to it being wrongly described. Not just for a change of mind. I take the time to provide quality photographs of the album, along with a detailed description, so please respect this.
I will post overseas with the exception of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. Guidance for postage cost is as follows. Within the Eu. Approximately £16 tracked and signed for. Worldwide approximately £25 tracked and signed for. If the postage works out to be less, I will refund the difference immediately.
