Another from my personal collection! One of the hardest of the Pink Floyd albums to find with clean and clear audio quality! This album was purchased from new and initially only ever played to record to tape, and then stored away in a case with the vinyl separated from the cover for protection. This is how I have always stored my records! The audio quality has and will always be my main interest with collecting records! These early eighties vinyls are so notorious for static/ticks that only well looked after vinyls produce acceptable audio quality! The audio quality on this vinyl is probably as good as it could get in my personal opinion, the clarity and dynamics are to die for. A real pleasure to listen to and becoming extremely rare to find like this! I have recorded the complete album and uploaded it so that you can hear for yourself in the player provided below! The extremely quiet tracks during the play of this vinyl shows up the true quality of the vinyl, it is my opinion that you will find it hard pushed to get a better sounding copy than this one for sale!
No Loud clicks or pops No constant static crackle or ticks No Distortion Plays like a New Vinyl in my opinion! Very rare and sought after like this!
I would grade the audio as Near Mint one of the best that I have ever heard!

The Final Cut (occasionally subtitled A Requiem For The Post-War Dream by Roger Waters is the twelfth studio album by English progressive rock group Pink Floyd. It was released on 21 March 1983 by Harvest Records in the United Kingdom, and several weeks later by Columbia Records in the United States. The Final Cut is Pink Floyd's last studio album to include founding member, bassist and songwriter Roger Waters, and their only album on which he alone is credited for writing and composition. It is also the only Pink Floyd album that does not feature keyboardist Richard Wright.







Waters originally planned The Final Cut as a soundtrack album for the 1982 film Pink Floyd – The Wall. With the onset of the Falklands War, he rewrote it as a concept album, exploring what he considered the betrayal of his father, who died serving in the Second World War. Most of its lyrics are sung by Waters; lead guitarist David Gilmour provides vocals on only one track. The packaging, also designed by Waters, reflects the album's war theme.






The Final Cut was recorded in eight British studios from July to December 1982. Its production was dominated by increasing tensions, particularly between Waters and Gilmour. It reached the top of the UK Albums Chart, but received mixed reviews.







An accompanying short film was released in the same year. Waters later left the band and attempted to keep Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason from using the Pink Floyd name.






The Final Cut was originally planned as a soundtrack album for the 1982 film Pink Floyd – The Wall. Under its working title Spare Bricks, it would have featured new music or songs re-recorded for the film, such as "When the Tigers Broke Free" and "Bring the Boys Back Home", respectively. Bass guitarist, vocalist, and primary songwriter Roger Waters also planned to record a small amount of new material for the album, further expanding The Wall's narrative.







As a result of the Falklands War, Waters changed direction, and began writing new material. He saw British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's response to Argentina's invasion of the islands as jingoistic and unnecessary, and dedicated the new album – provisionally titled Requiem for a Post-War Dream – to his father, Eric Fletcher Waters, a second lieutenant of the 8th Royal Fusiliers, who died during World War II, at Aprilia, between Anzio and Rome in Italy, on 18 February 1944, when Roger was five months old. Gilmour disliked the political direction, which sparked arguments between him and Waters.





Several pieces of music considered for but not used on The Wall, including "Your Possible Pasts", "One of the Few", "The Final Cut" and "The Hero's Return", had initially been set aside for Spare Bricks, and although Pink Floyd had often re-used older material in their work, Gilmour felt the songs were not good enough for a new album. He wanted to write new material, but Waters remained doubtful as Gilmour had lately contributed little to the band's repertoire.






The Final Cut is an anti-war concept album, whose lyrics explore what Waters regards as the betrayal of fallen British servicemen – such as his father – who during World War II sacrificed their lives in the spirit of a post-war dream. This post-war dream was that their victory would usher in a more peaceful world, whose leaders would no longer be so eager to solve disputes by resorting to war. The album's lyrics are critical of Thatcher, whose policies and decisions Waters regarded as an example of this betrayal. She is referred to as "Maggie" throughout the album.





The opening track, "The Post War Dream", begins with a recorded announcement that the replacement for the Atlantic Conveyor, a ship lost during the campaign, will be built in Japan. Waters' lyrics refer to his dead father, the loss of Britain's shipbuilding industry to Japan, and Margaret Thatcher, before moving on to "Your Possible Pasts", a rewritten version of one of the songs rejected for The Wall. In "One of the Few", another rejected song, the schoolteacher from The Wall features as the main character, presented as a war hero returned to civilian life.





He is unable to relate his experiences to his wife, and in "The Hero's Return" is tormented by the loss of one of his air crew ("The Hero's Return" was titled "Teacher, Teacher" when it was part of the demo version of The Wall). "The Gunner's Dream" discusses the post-war dream of a world free from tyranny and the threat of terrorism (including a reference to the Hyde Park bombing), and is followed in "Paranoid Eyes" by the teacher's descent into alcoholism.









The second half of the album deals with various war-related issues. While "Southampton Dock" is a lament to returning war heroes, and also those soldiers heading out to a likely death, "Not Now John" addresses the ignorance of society toward political and economic problems. "Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert" deals with Waters' feelings about war and invasion, and "The Fletcher Memorial Home" (the title is a nod to Waters' lost father) reflects the fantasy of gathering together political leaders including Leonid Brezhnev, Menachem Begin and Margaret Thatcher, and applying "the final solution" to them.







The album's title track deals with the aftermath of a man's isolation and sexual repression, as he contemplates suicide and struggles to reconnect with the world around him. The album ends with "Two Suns in the Sunset", a song that portrays a nuclear holocaust, the final result of a world obsessed with war and control.

The Vinyl

On initial inspection there isn't much to say about the vinyl this looks almost as new in my opinion! I can hardly see a blemish! The Vinyl lies perfectly flat on the turntable and is free from any warping, (Very important because these early eighties vinyls are very prone to warping if they were not stored correctly)! Any marks that could be possibly be seen looked under strong light would be sleeve removal marks! Try to find better after 32 years! Points to note!  These vinyls have been stored seperately in poly sleeves during its storage life which has preserved this vinyl all of these years this is how i have always stored my vinyls!

The Audio Quality

I have played the vinyl track for track and recorded the actual album for you to hear in the player above! The audio is astoundingly clear and vibrant and the separation is to die for. Only found like this on the earliest UK pressings and pressings that have been barely ever played in my opinion! There is no distortion or signs that this has been overplayed at all, in fact this vinyl has barely ever been played no more than a handful of times ever, if that! Any interference worth to note is very isolated static tick or ticks heard only, barely any crackle noted during the play of this vinyl! Audio Graded At Least Excellent Plus To  Near As Mint in my opoinion!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! This album has been laying dormant in a case for over 30 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static/ticks/crackle! A constant cleaning before each play is highly recommended! This will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!

Please allow for isolated static type ticks that may be heard in the odd place during the play of this vinyl! (not consistant throughout the audio) Please remmember that this is an original 30 years old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 30 year old system!

THIS AUDIO WILL BE HARD TO SURPASS! TOP ON ALL FREQUENCIES! THE AUDIO IS CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT WITH (NO) LOUD CONSTANT CLICKS OR POPS OR THAT THIS HAS BEEN OVERPLAYED (NO) DISTORTION CERTAINLY (NO) SKIPS OR JUMPS!

The Labels

These are the original 1st UK issue custom Harvest/EMI labels in superbe if not in as near new condition! In fact I find it hard to see any spider marks around the spindle hole! This vinyl has barely ever been played at all No more than a handful of times ever! There is no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round!

The  record sleeve.

This is the original 1st issued black EMI poly lined sleeve (no) splits or tares! In top condition!

The Cover

This is the original 1st issue Harvest/EMI, glossy,  un laminated gate fold cover! 1st issues feature the rectangular cover sticker on the front  (Barely any creases to mention at all very minor at the spine barely noticable! No nasty marks worth to mention all text is legible  (see photo) Superbe square spine has not suffered from nasty crushing! (very hard to find!) Points to note! Any other marks or points you really would have to look to notice! No real ring wear to mention and no nasty edge rubbing wear that is so common on these black covers! Very hard to find like this! , beleive me.!

I would grade this cover at least excellent plus!
