Description
Live in N.Y.C. Madison Square Garden: July 2, 1977 is a limited edition red vinyl LP of Pink Floyd's live performance at Madison Square Garden on July 2, 1977.
This record captures a legendary performance during Pink Floyd's iconic "In The Flesh" tour, also known as "The Animals Tour".
ANIMALS was released in the U.S. in February 1977. To promote the album, WNEW-FM began airing spot announcements for an upcoming publicity event, a giant inflatable pink pig in Central Park’s Sheep Meadow. On that day, Pink Floyd played their second concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Track Listing:
1 Shine On You Crazy Diamond
2 Welcome to the Machine
3 Have a Cigar
4 Wish You Were Here
It’s the 50th-anniversary of Wish You Were Here. The album's cover art, designed by Hipgnosis, features two businessmen shaking hands, one of whom is on fire, symbolizing the "burning" of people in the music industry. Wish You Were Here explored themes of absence, isolation, and the insincerity of the music business.
The album includes the classic track "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," a tribute to former band member Syd Barrett, and the title track, considered one of Pink Floyd's most popular songs.
