Description
PINK FLOYD MEDDLE 1U/1U first pressing
On here is a rare very first UK pressing of Meddle in very good condition. Being a first press it has the fully textured cover which is in excellent condition.
SHVL 795 // A-1U / B-1U // RP 1 & AH 1
Visual grading
For its age this first press appears to be in excellent condition. There is one hairline across the first track on Side One but the remainder is very clean. Side Two does have a couple of small scratches and a few faint hairlines.
Play grading
There is hardly any lead in static prior to 'One Of These Days' and then proceeds to play with excellent audio with just a little static in a few places. 'A Pillow of Winds' plays superbly well with a little interference towards the end. The remaining tracks do play with a some light crackle but isn't particularly intrusive and there are no skips or jumps.
'Echoes' does play with some crackle and a few light clicks. I would only grade this audio as very good but is still an enjoyable listen and perhaps with a professional clean it may improve. No skips or jumps again. Still a sought after LP due to being a rare first press.
Gatefold cover
The original fully textured cover is in great condition for its age. The edges and spine have minor shelf wear and there is just a little rubbing on the corners. The inside of the gatefold is superbly clean with no marks at all. So often the 'white' nature of it lends itself to being stained but not this one. This is one of best fully textured gatefolds I have seen.
Inner sleeve
This first press was issued with a plain white inner sleeve with a patent number and Made In England on one side and has no splits or tears.
Labels
The yellow/green labels are in superb condition with spindle wear only.
Play tested on my Technics SL-J110R turntable system
SHVL 795 // A-1U / B-1U // RP 1 & AH 1 I would grade the vinyl as VG
The fully textured gatefold is Ex+
The original inner sleeve is Ex+
The labels are Near Mint
