WITH TEXTURED FRONT GARROD & LOFTHOUSE GATEFOLD! RAREST TO FIND WITH SMOOTH INSIDE (WITHOUT) PATENT NO.!!! UNBELIEVABLE, YOU CAN STILL SEE THE PLASTIC IN THE SPINDLE HOLE!

Here is another from my personal collection!, I have accumilated many many original UK copies of all the Pink Floyd albums over the past 35 years or more, in fact I must have at least 40  UK copies and variations of this album alone! This album is particularly rare because the condition is awesome throughout very rare to find! This is the original 1st issue and would be the last of the 1st issues with 'The Gramophone co..'' Label rim text (later 2nd issues feature ''EMI...'' label rim text!) . Also one of the rarest charactoristics of this album is that the original textured front gatefold features the smooth face on the internal side of the cover, but importantly features the 1st issue text bottom right it says "File under POPULAR, 7110 TPS Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. SHVL 795." Later issues have "Patent No. 1224339" after the SHVL795 Although the earlier released covers issued was textured both inside and out, Any avid collectors will appreciate that this is very rare to find with smooth internal gatefolds! Another important note, is that the audio is stunning throughout, so hard to find any early copies of this album on vinyl without the horrible surface noise and clicks. This audio was very very near perfect on my systems through out!!!

 Meddle is an album by English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It was recorded at various studios in between the band's live touring commitments from January to August 1971!!

Though the tracks have a variety of moods, Meddle is generally considered more cohesive than its 1970 predecessor Atom Heart Mother, and is thought by many fans to be Pink Floyd's first truly great album recorded without Syd Barrett. It enjoyed some commercial success in the United Kingdom (reaching #3 on the charts), but lacklustre publicity on the part of Capitol Records led to weak sales in the U.S. However, Meddle was later certified gold by the RIAA in October 1973 and then double platinum on 11 March 1994 following the added attention garnered by the band's later successes in America!!!.

"One of These Days" opens the album with an ostinato bassline, played by both David Gilmour and Roger Waters, with Gilmour playing slide guitar. In later years, Gilmour would play the slide part with a lap steel guitar, mounted on legs, similar to a pedal steel guitar. A largely instrumental piece, the only lyric, 'One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces', is spoken by Nick Mason. It is followed by "A Pillow of Winds", which is distinguished by being one of the few quiet, acoustic love songs in the Pink Floyd catalogue. These two songs segue into each other via wind effects, anticipating the same technique that would later be used on Wish You Were Here!!.

The song "Fearless" employs field recordings of the Liverpool F.c. Kop choir singing "You'll Never Walk Alone", their anthem, which brings the song to an end in a heavily reverberated fade-out. "San Tropez", by extreme contrast, is a jazz-inflected pop song with a shuffle tempo, composed by Waters in his increasingly-deployed style of breezy, off-the-cuff songwriting. Pink Floyd give a rare glimpse into their sense of humour with "Seamus", a pseudo-blues number featuring a dog howling along to the music. "Seamus" was remade as "Mademoiselle Nobs", featuring a different dog and no lyrics, in the film Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii!!.

The final song on the album is the 23-minute underwater epic "Echoes". "Echoes" also gave its name to the compilation album Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd, on which a much-edited version of the title track was included. In the compilation, multiple edits throughout the entire song cut the running length of the piece down by some 7 minutes!!.

The Vinyl

On visual inspection this vinyl looks absolutely superbe! This is the original heavier thicker type of vinyl with deeper grooves only found on these original 1st pressings!!! They are also more robust than later pressings which were more flimsier!!!! In strong light only can possibly very light whispy sleeve removal marks be seen Please note I can't see any needle scratches at all! Cesrtainly (no) marks that are audio sounding!  I have played this through track for track as usual and the audio is rated at the top! This is cristal clear and vibrant through out. This plays with no background noise or crackle at all with (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed!!!! I would class myself as highly critacle! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!! Audio is graded at the top!!! You will find the audio quality on this vinyl hard to surpass!!!!! FROM MY EXPERIANCE THIS IS ONE OF THE HARDEST VINYLS TO FIND LIKE THIS! IT IS ESSENTIAL TO HAVE A VINYL IN TOP CONDITION ON THIS PRESSING AS THERE ARE MANY QUIET PARTS! THIS IS AWESOME THROUGH OUT!!!!

Please note! I always make this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd static crackle\tick (not) consistant throughout the audio! Although i never heard any problems at all and have given my honest opinion, this is a genuine 35 year old vinyl (not a reissue) that would have originally been played on a 35 year old system!!!!

The Audio quality.

I have played this through track for track prior to listing on a top system at very loud volume!  The audio quality is TOP! TOP! TOP! ABSOLUTELY SUPERBE THROUGHOUT!!!!! visually the playing surface looks alomost like new!!! NO DISTORTION OR ANY SIGNS OF GROOVEWARE AT ALL!!!! Any marks could only be possibly seen in strong light would be caused by the vinyl been slid in and out of its sleeve!!! FOR ANY AUDIOPHILLES THIS AUDIO IS GRADEDAT THE TOP ON ALL FREQUENCIES!!! Please note! I WOULD CLASS MYSELF AS HIGHLY CRITICAL!! Please allow for light static crackle only heard during quiet parts of the album, as it is easy to be critical about this 70s pressing and also this vinyl has been stored laying dormant in a case for at least 25 years and build up of dust and dirt in the grooves would contribute to this! constant cleaning before play would benifit this vinyl. I must emphisis there is (no) clicks or pops and certainly (no) jumps AUDIO IS TOP! very near perfect near mint audio throughout!

The labels

These are superbe HARVEST LABELS  ONLY 1ST PRESS!!!! There is very minimal spidering that can be seen angled to the light    this has  Certainly (not) overplayed at all, looks and sounds barely ever played in my personal opinion!!!! ''The Gramophone co'' featured around the label rim (only early press ,1st issues only ) ''Made In Gt Britain'' (uk Pressing)!!!!! (no) spindle ware the hole is perfectly round!!!In fact you can still even see the plastic in the spindle holes Unbeleivable !

The Cover

This is the original Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold  (TEXTURED) cover Absolutely superbe any creases to the front cover are hardly worth mentioning (see photos) I have taken as many in all lights as possible!!!! Rich in colour  and absolutely superbe!! The lightest of storageware\rubbing to the edges (hardly noticable amazing for 36 years old!!!!!! (no) splits or nasty writing!!Please note! highlighted in the photos below is a very very minor 3mm tare at the opening edge barely noticable unmless you look for it!! super crisp and sharp corners in general!! and the writing on the spine can be read clearly superbe example!!! Try to find better after 36 years a really hard 1st press cover to find in this condition!!! This must grade at least excellent plus to excellent plus plus!!!!
