Pink Floyd : Meddle 1U / 1U 1st Press 1971 w/ Textured Cover
This first pressing plays to a superb standard and 'Echoes' on S2 is the most stunning example I have ever listened to. The vinyl itself is very clean and has clearly not been over-played. The clarity, depth, warmth and definition of the audio on both sides is so impressive and the only real intrusion is three dull clicks at the end of 'A Pillow Of Winds' due to a minor speck that refuses to move. Unless you knew it was there you would not see it! Interference wise that's about it, the rest of S1 plays with exceptional clarity and the quiet intro on 'One Of These Days' is a prime example of that. Talking of intros - the opening section on 'Echoes' is phenomenal! Never have I heard it plays with such precision, it is almost CD like but with the warmth and depth you only find on vinyl. The entire 23+ minutes plays with incredible clarity and there are only a couple of minor static ticks. A FINAL UPGRADE version for sure.
The fully textured gatefold has been preserved so well and has only minimal wear. Just look at the inside, you hardly ever see it this clean! The original Harvest inner sleeve is also in great condition with only light wear.

Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a lovely glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. Holding the vinyl at a certain angle under a bright light I can only see a few faint hairlines and the surface has no groove wear. There is one tiny 'speck' on S1 causing brief interference as described below. The run out grooves are very clean and you can easily read the matrix info. The yellow / green Harvest labels have no marking or writing and only minimal spindle wear on S1 and just a little more on S2.
Play grading
The 'gentle wind' intro on 'One Of These Days' plays with wonderful clarity which is a genuine rarity. I heard only a couple of minor statics and as Waters' bass comes in the audio is just as clean. You really notice how strong and deep the bass sound is here and there are only a handful of minor statics which again are totally non-intrusive. It is easily one of the finest starts on this classic that I have ever heard. No obvious ticks and no clicks or pops of course. Mason's introduction soon followed by Gilmour keeps up the standard and and the next bass section is just stunning! There is just one very light tick and the one and only 'vocal' is perfect! As the volume increases the playback could not be any stronger and this entire sections plays with outstanding quality, there is no background at all and you can turn it up to max without fear of distortion. The final 'wind' section also plays very clearly with only a couple of light statics. Near Mint- is a fair assessment of the audio, it is a superb version.
The segue into 'A Pillow Of Winds' is perfect as is the acoustic intro. The first verse plays with sublime clarity and the second just has one light click on the first line. There is no other background however and from then on it plays with exceptional clarity and warmth. The mid instrumental is a case in point, incredible clarity of sound here. The final vocal section is just as clean and then the end instrumental plays very clearly but with three consecutive light dull clicks caused by that tiny speck as mentioned. I will grade the main part of the track as Near Mint- and the end section as VG
'Fearless' plays with remarkable quality through every vocal and instrumental section. You hear every subtle nuance in the music and I cannot emphasise enough just how stunning the clarity is here! There are a number of quiet sections of course and yet I did not even pick up a single dust tick let alone anything more. The 'Kop' vocal at the end is of the same high end standard and I have no hesitation in grading this as Mint it just could not play any better. 'SanTropez' also plays with a clarity and depth that is second to none. Playing as per an un-played track it is Mint from start to finish with no sign of any interference. The end piano section and fade out exemplify just how 'clean' the audio is. this track is as good as new and I do not use that term lightly.
The unique 'Seamus' ends the side with exceptional clarity once more. A rarity in a way because it often plays with some static I find but the playback cannot be faulted here. Another Mint track.

The 'sonar' intro on the classic 'Echoes' has to be the cleanest I have ever heard. Incredibly there is no background at all during this section and it lasts for over a minute! As Gilmour joins in there is no drop in quality and it continues to play with breath-taking clarity and warmth. I do not think I have ever heard a Mint intro but we definitely have one here! The opening verse has only a couple of minor statics and the rest of this opening vocal section plays with sublime clarity also. Gilmour's first solo is 'as new'. This is the first powerful section and the depth and resonance of the audio is stunning. The following instrumental incorporating Waters' deep bass sound has no intrusion. Wright with so many 'sounds' here - we're over 10 minutes now and so far no background, I cannot put into words just how incredible the audio is! There is just one static tick during the 'whale section' as I like to call it but this level of clarity and depth of sound is not what you generally find on a 1U/1U first pressing! You miss nothing, each note is so clean and precise - the sonic quality is phenomenal throughout this entire section - no background static whatsoever. As you leave this section into another 'sonar' piece the audio is again so clean and fresh, a couple of barely audible dust ticks at most. As it builds there is just one very faint tick but again the sonic quality is astounding! The 'jangly' guitar sequence so often plays with a fair amount of static distortion but it's hardly noticeable here. The final two verses then play to perfection and the next instrumental plays with unrivalled power and depth and.... no interference. The quiet end section then closes this all time classic with near perfect clarity. There are a couple of minor ticks right at the end but they are so quiet and do not take away from what is a STUNNING Mint- version of this all time classic. I have listened to numerous first pressings down the years but this is without doubt the most 'complete' version of Echoes that I have ever heard. That is not me trying to over-sell it, I am just giving my honest opinion. In a word, ABSOLUTELY STUNNING, ok two words :-)
The Gatefold & EMI / Harvest Inner Sleeve
The fully textured G & L cover is in lovely condition and like the vinyl has been so well cared for over the last 53 years. The edges have only minimal rubbing and the spine is still legible with a handful of minor 'rubs'. The spine is often the most affected aspect on this unlaminated over but this one is very clean and the corners do not have too much wear. The right hand corners are in great shape also with hardly any wear and the opening edge has no obvious handling wear. The front cover is near perfect with just one tiny corner crease by the bottom right corner, a couple of tiny corner rubs and a two small creases next to the spine. The back cover has only very light rubbing on the corners and remains in superb condition also. The inside of the gatefold really stands out because it is so often marked due to its predominantly white background but it is unbelievably clean here, pristine in fact! Fully textured of course and it has only a handful of small creases around the spine and some light creasing near the bottom of the spine. This is a stunning example of this cover and so rarely found in this condition today.
Not surprisingly the original poly-lined Harvest inner is in superb shape with no side splits or tears, barely any marking and just some light creasing here and there.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
