Description
PINK FLOYD OBSCURED BY CLOUDS A2 / B2 very early pressing
On offer here is a rare early pressing of this classic LP in stunning condition. With amazing audio and an almost Mint textured cover it would be difficult to find better. This record has been so well looked after for 44 years and probably barely played.
Visual grading
The vinyl is in wonderful condition and retains a lovely glossy sheen. There is one hairline on Side One towards the end but it has no affect on the audio whatsoever. Side Two visually is stunning and I can only detect a couple of very faint hairlines that again have no bearing on the stunning audio.
Play grading
There is hardly any lead in static on Side One and the title track then plays as Near Mint apart from a couple of clicks toward the end. The stunning audio continues for the remainder of the side and there is complete silence between the tracks also. I have not heard such an early pressing play so well as this in a long time, the audio quality is breathtaking and plays with stunning clarity and depth.
'Childhood's End' begins with a little lead in static and then plays superbly well with almost no interference. This again is quality audio, so good for its age. 'Free Four' is just the best version I have ever heard but that goes for all the tracks if I'm honest! 'Stay' has such clear audio with no interference which is so rare for such a quiet track. Again the very quiet intro to 'Absolutely Curtains' plays beautifully. I did hear two dull clicks but that may have been caused by a speck of dust. The remainder of the tracks play as Mint. Overall this rare LP plays with almost Mint audio and many sellers would grade it as such!
Cover
The textured cover is in sublime condition with hardly any shelf wear. The edges, corners and thin pinched spine are superbly clean and there are no marks or writing anywhere. There is just one small crease top left but is hardly noticeable. A stunning cover with barely a fault. Probably the best I have ever seen.
Inner sleeve
This has the original plain white inner sleeve with patent no 1,125,555 and Made In Great Britain on one side. It is in excellent condition with just a few light creases.
Labels
The yellow/green labels are in superb condition with no marks or writing and only a little spindle wear.
Play tested on my Technics SL-J110R turntable system
SHSP 4020 // A-2 / B-2 // TP 1 & GRP 2 I would grade the vinyl as Near Mint (many would grade as Mint-)
