Description
Nice original 1st Jacksonville Press Floyd with RARE La Vallee hype sticker from 1972! Featuring one of my all time favorite Floyd songs, "Childhoods End."
Sleeve: VG+ Overall a very presentable original 1st issue cover in shrink w RARE hype sticker. Does have minor wear at bottom left of cover. Shrink is torn back an inch or two at front cover.
It is based on their soundtrack for the French film La Vallée, by Barbet Schroeder. It was recorded in two sessions in France, while they were in the midst of touring, and produced by the band members. The album is shorter than some of their previous material, and makes heavy use of the acoustic guitar.
Starting with A Saucerful of Secrets, Pink Floyd came into their own as the type of band they are: an instrumental band with a mix of long compositions and shorter songs with a mellow sound and thoughtful lyrics. Whatever the quality of the previous albums, their imprint is on each of them. However with Obscured By Clouds they seem to have decided to throw that style away by attempting to make a rock album, while still retaining their imprint on it. The result? It’s so unlike Pink Floyd and that’s what makes this album great!!
