Another from my personal collection! Purchased from new and barely ever played, perhapes only one or two of times if that! (so rare to ever find like this, over 30 years old) This has been stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover, this is how I have always stored my records! This is an early edition, 2nd issue label variation featuring EMI records rim text A-2 B-2 Matrix endings and the original thicker heavier type of vinyl (Later press are much flimsier)   I have decided to list this awesome early UK pressed Pink Floyd  album due to the fact that it is so rare to find these vinyls like this and in virtually un played condition like this! I must stress that with this album, ! This vinyl and audio is truly (truly) exceptional throughout! Any avid Pink Floyd fans would know at how difficult it is to find an almost flawless audio copy of this album on vinyl!, I have many many original copies of this album that I have purchased over the years only to be dissapointed with the audio quality, A true joy to listen to!! This is exceptional and is becoming highly collectable in this condition! This looks and plays awesome throughout!  The audio seperation is outstanding a real deep basey feel! quite rare to find! Features the original Textured Garrod & Lofthouse Rounded corners Cover in exceptional condition also!!

Obscured by Clouds is a rock album by Pink Floyd based on their soundtrack for the French film La VallÈe, by Barbet Schroeder. The LP was released in the UK on June 3, 1972 on Harvest/EMI and then in the U.s. on June 15, 1972 on Harvest/Capitol. The album reached #6 on the UK album charts and #46 on the U.S. album charts (where it was certified Gold by the RIAA in March, 1994). In 1986!

At this point in their career, the band was not new to scoring movies. They had already scored the films More and Zabriskie Point in 1969 and 1970 respectively. So when the band went into score the movie, they had a lot more experience and therefore produced a much finer product.

The band was already working on Dark Side of the Moon during this period, but production was interrupted when the band travelled to France to score the movie. Nick Mason refers to the project:

While recording the music, the band was free to use "Standard rock song construction" to their advantage, and was such the case for "Obscured by Clouds". The title track featured an early use of electronic drums, or "electric bongos" as Mason calls them. Rick Wright foreshadows what is to come later with his use of synthesizers on this album.

A droning note (played on an EMS VCS3 synthesizer) begins the album in pure Floyd style. This song was often used to open their live shows in the following years. The band also used themes to their advantage.

The melody played in Wright's "Burning Bridges" is echoed later in "Mudmen" with David Gilmour's reconstruction of the song. Gilmour seemed to be the band's driving force behind this project. His lead guitar work is very prominent throughout the album, particularly on "The Gold It's in the..." which he sings himself. The song "Childhood's End" was credited only to Gilmour without his usual help from Roger Waters in the lyrical department, however Waters contributed the lyrics to all other songs. It is said to have been inspired by Arthur C. Clarke's novel of the same name, though this is not borne out by the lyrics!

Roger Waters only wrote one song by himself, "Free Four," but his minimal songwriting did not go un-noticed. "Free Four" was the first Pink Floyd song to get significant airplay in the U.S., and the first to deal directly with the death of Eric Fletcher Waters, Roger Waters' father!!!.

On initial inspection this looks awesome super original glossy sheen from new still retained a beautiful looking vinyl! Initially I can hardly see a blemish at all, and in my opinion looks like new!  In strong light only could possibly very few surface marks be seen (mainly sleeve removal only)! Which have very little if (no) effect on the awesome playback.

I have played this through track for track on a top system at very loud volume! The audio is awesome Top sounding on all frequencies! Super, Super seperation! Cristal clear and vibrant with (no) signs of distortion or that this has been overplayed at all  Please note! Quite amaizingly I never heard any major interfearance at all (no) distortion (no) usual background static crackle this is quite exceptional indeed! ! THIS IS EXCEPTIONAL AUDIO! Must be at least Excellent plus to Near Mint in my opinion!

 Absolutely superbe!! A very playable vinyl with just minor isolated light static/ ticks  that perhapes might not even be noticable on some systems,  Please note that I play test these vinyls at very loud volume and i would class myself as extreemely critical!.

Please note! It is easy to be critical about these 70s pressings especially the fact that there are so many many quiet tracks!,, Please allow for isolated light static /crackle (not) consistant throughout the audio! , Although I never heard any problems ,Please remember that this is a 40 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 40 year old system!

A constant clean is recommended before each play. This vinyl has been stored in a case for at least 40 years or more laying dormant! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle\ticks and constant cleaning reduces this!!

The labels

These feature the original Harvest labels in superbe condition 2nd label variation with EMI records text rim! Amaizingly I find it difficult to see any spidering even when angled in strong light.(This has barely ever been played no more than a handfull of times if that. unbeleivable to find) This certainly has not been overplayed in my opinion! Little if (no) spindleware the hole is perfectly round!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original plain white paper sleeve with no splits or tares light/staining creasing with age which is normal on these inners patented and "Made in Great Britain" printed on one side!

The Cover

This is the original early TEXTURED GARROD & LOFTHOUSE PRINTED cover!! In awesome condition (rarely seen like this! (No real nasty creases to talk of (If you can see any creases they are very fine surface type only and slightly at corners or edges) (no) nasty marks , or tares!! UNBELEIVABLE CONDITION SUPERBE SPINE! No edge splits or tears!! Please note! This features the original rounded corners (only earliest press) also textured (only early original press) Any storage ware or rubbing at the edges or light creasing,  you would have to look for to notice in my opinion. Light corner creasing/bumping to mention but again, you have to look to really notice in my opinion.  Must be at least Excellent to Excellent plus in my opinion!
