PINK FLOYD - THE PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN
Very hard now to find these earliest UK 1st pressings especially in such overall impressive condition as this
Year/Label : 1967 UK COLUMBIA Label number : SCX 61572 Matrix numbers : YAX 3419-1, YAX 3420-1 Stampers : 1 G / 1 GVery good plus (VG+) condition vinyl - weighty, completely flat, and retaining a nice jet black sheen. It is only with close scrutiny under a bright light that a few wispy hairlines and extremely fine paper scuff lines come into view on both sides, along with just a few small and very light scuff lines. Nothing obviously below the surface but there are two tiny scratches, each being just feelable, on side 2 right at the very end of Bike resulting in x4 light clicks at the end of this same track as the record transitions from Bike into the intermission. If it was not for these two blemishes I would grade the vinyl's condition as excellent, nonetheless a "VG+" is still impressive for this 59 year old classic. The labels are in excellent (EX) condition - just a few small and faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label, otherwise perfect. An excellent (EX) condition Ernest J. Day flipback front-side only laminated outer sleeve - firm edges devoid of any scuffing apart from a single 1cm light scuff on the spine adjacent to the spine text, a rigid spine with all spine text perfectly intact, nicely defined right angled corners with barely any rubbing, firm opening edges with no fraying, and all colours, photos, art work and text remaining in great condition with perfect definition still. There are no areas of laminate lifting but just a couple of small and very light laminate crinkles on the front side and just the the hint of some very mild ring wear towards the front side top and bottom edges (barely noticeable). The reverse side flipbacks remain in great condition and there are barely any handling/storage/age marks at all - amazing! Note the absence of the reverse side text "File under POPULAR : Pop Groups" which is on the right side of the top flipback on later pressings. Eminently presentable still, even after 59 years! Excellent (EX) stereo sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, distortion or background crackle - wonderful tone and crystal clear stereo reproduction with brilliant sound quality throughout. There are the aforementioned x4 clicks on side 2 but nothing here to spoil a great listen with this Floyd prog gem still standing the test of time. Comes with original very good plus (VG+) condition EMI advertising sleeve with barely any creasing but there is an 8cm split in the middle of the left side edge and a little fading due to age is in evidence. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.
A lovely copy of this Floyd prog classic with these earliest UK pressings now becoming seriously scarce.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
