Description
THE PINK FLOYD - "SEE EMILY PLAY / SCARECROW " , Columbia Records Ltd. (DB 8214), Original UK Issue, 1967.

This is without a doubt one of the true holy grails of The Pink Floyd record collecting. It's the original UK issue of their second single from the legendary "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" debut LP. As any serious bidders will already know, this is from the days when Syd Barrett was at the helm and as such is about as perfect as 60's UK Psyche can get!

This particular copy is particularly rare due to the incredible, pristine condition it is in. A quick look around ebay shows that scratched and worn out copies are not that hard to find and generally sell for about £25, beautiful scratch-free copies like this very rarely come up for sale. The closest thing to this I have found was a near mint copy that sold right here on ebay just over a month ago for the shocking price of £156!!!

Would be an incredible Christmas present for any die-hard Floyd fan!

CONDITION: (Note; due to the hordes of idiots grading their records as "excellent" even if they then describe them as being covered in scratches, and generally making a mockery of the standard grading system, I have chosen not to use generic gradings but instead provide an accurate description of the record and how looks/plays, etc)

VINYL SIDE A = In pristine condition, NO visible scratches, NO groove damage, NO pressing imperfections, etc. There is the minutest amount of surface noise during the silent run-in as you get with all 7"s from new, but as soon as the music starts everything sounds perfect. Plays loudly and strongly and not showing any of the worn-out screechiness or disortion that afflicts so many over-played 60's singles. I would speculate that it has only ever had relatively few spins - and seeing as it came from a collection of naff pop singles that would make perfect sense!

LABEL SIDE A = In great shape. NO damage, defacing, excessive wear, etc. Colour still strong. This side of the label genuinely has NO SPINDLE TRAILS!

VINYL SIDE B = Again in great shape. NO scratches, NO groove damage, NO pressing imperfections, etc. Like the A-side there is a tiny amount of surface noise during the silent run-in, as the song starts with quiet minimal percussive hits you can still make out a very faint surface noise which disappears once the other instruments kick in - Because of the overall condition of this single and the complete absence of spindle trails on the label on the flip, I do not believe that this is due to any kind of wear... either it is exactly how it was pressed in the first place or it just needs a clean! (Note; although I usually clean everything I list on ebay I decided that due to the records incredible condition and it's overall cleanliness that I didn't want to risk touching it, it seemed fairer to the winning bidder to let them do this in their prefered manner, even if it does potentially lose me a few quid). Like the A Side, it plays loudly and strongly and with no signs of distortion from over-playing.

LABEL SIDE B = NO damage, defacing, excessive wear, etc. Colour still strong with just a few very faint spindle trails.

SLEEVE = In pretty good shape. No defacing and the original colour still looks bright and strong. All that lets it down are a few very light creases (which could be flattened out considerably) and an inch-long spilt on the top left hand side. Although lets be honest, Columbia company sleeves are ten a penny and the winning bidder could just swap it for a mint one - It's the super-clean record inside it that you are really paying for!

It's worth pointing out to any potential bidders, that for my day job, I manage one of the larger secondhand records shops in this country and unlike so many ebay sellers, I know how to grade records!
