ITEM DESCRIPTION:

From Discogs, I believe this to be the June 1979 MFSL 1-017 pressing.  Some people say the 1979 pressing is superior to the 1981 MFSL re-issue.  Discogs differentiates the 1979 pressing from the 1981 re-issue by the following gatefold jacket characteristics which are only present on the 1979 pressing and shown in this listing's photos:

This record seems to be 1979 MFSL 1-017 Discogs "variant 3," however the run-out matrix number on side A has an added "F" that is listed for some variants, but not for "variant 3." I don't know if this was just overlooked, or if this is actually another sub-variant. 

Early MFSL LPs are getting harder to find-- especially in this nice condition.  I remember clearly that the vinyl was quiet compared to regular records at that time. MFSL discs were manufactured in Japan to extremely high-quality standards and remastered in analog at 1/2-speed. I bought this record brand new around 1979 at a local stereo store, and I only played it a few times on my high-end turntable/cartridge, specifically for recording it to tape. For this listing's photographs, I did not clean the LP or wipe off static dust.  Since I have no way of playing the album, I cannot make any statements concerning its current sound quality.  The labels are very clean. Visually I saw no scratches, scuffs, or warpage of the vinyl. The vinyl looks very nice and shiny. By the looks of the vinyl, I would expect the record to sound excellent, but obviously I can't guarantee that.* The buyer may want to consult a record expert/collector familiar with how records age when stored in their original packaging (same as still-sealed copies), if that is a concern. 

The gatefold record jacket is made of a semi-gloss stock. The cover has remained inside its original outer plastic bag, so it shows minimal wear. This listing's photos show many views of areas that typically show record jacket wear. The record jacket was kept inside its original outer bag open at the top, so the edges show little wear. There are a few slight cover-jacket bumps (see photos) that appear to be inherent in the underlying cardboard. The LP includes a MFSL cardboard folded sleeve ("an audiophile's dream come true") outside of the original anti-static inner sleeve and an original MFSL comment mailing sheet. No other inserts are included with this copy. The outer bag still has its original sticker present. From a dry smoke free environment.

PACKING:

The record is placed in a brand-new MoFi Original Master anti-static sleeve-- separate from the original record sleeve and separate from the album cover jacket. The contents, with new outer sleeves are placed with bubble wrap inside an album shipping box, which is then sealed inside a plastic bag. This interior record shipping box is then double-boxed in a larger outer box with packing peanuts. The outer box is reinforced with fiberglass and brown shipping tape. Note: To protect the contents, please be careful when removing from the packaging.
