It is my pleasure to offer for auction an exceptional example of the studio album by PINK FLOYD titled "THE DIVISION BELL", Catalogue Number EMI EMD 1055. This is an ORIGINAL 1994 UK STEREO 1st PRESSING on BLACK VINYL with a 1st ISSUE UK-MADE GLOSSY-FINISH GATEFOLD SLEEVE. It comes complete with the original PICTURE/LYRIC INNER SLEEVE. [The matrix numbers are A-1 and B-2. "FLOYD A(B)" and "TML M(X)" is also stamped in the run-outs].
The sleeve is in EX+ condition with only the lightest signs of wear and a few minor creases.
The mid-weight record is in EX+ condition. The EMI picture labels are like new with only 2 or 3 faint spindle traces each side. There is virtually no wear to the spindle hole. I can confirm that the record has only received a few careful plays on a high quality turntable. Both sides play excellently throughout with no discernable deterioration in sound quality.
Please Note. When this album was released in 1994, the favoured format of the overwhelming majority of the music-buying public was CD or cassette. Production of the original black vinyl pressing of The Division Bell was therefore very limited. It is consequently very scarce to find today, especially in the condition offered here. The album has been re-issued several times on gimmicky coloured vinyl which quite frankly does not make the grade with audio enthusiasts, and no substitute will ever compare favourably with the audio quality of the original first pressed vinyls. Visually it is hard to see a blemish at all on the playing surfaces of the vinyl offered here. It is important to note, however, that during this period of the mid 1990s when vinyl was deemed to be near the end of its life, the quality of vinyl pressings in general left a lot to be desired. Allowances must therefore be made for static crackle and random ticks noticeable during the quiet passages. In my experience it is the norm for these pressings.
The picture/lyric inner sleeve is in unmarked EX+ condition.
Overall this is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a superb and complete UK copy of The Division Bell on ultra rare black vinyl.
GRADINGS
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Sony PS-X600 turntable fitted with an AT-30E MC cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My grading is strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:
· MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.
· EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.
· VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects but is still very presentable.
All records can be expected to rotate sufficiently evenly on the turntable for there to be no effect whatsoever on the audio playback. Minor warps or dishing will not be mentioned as virtually all records display these features to some degree and no record is perfectly flat.
