Description
This rare original 1994 UK release of The Division Bell is in wonderful condition. Looking under a bright light I can only detect a couple of the faintest hairlines, probably caused by sleeve removal, and it retains that glossy sheen of new vinyl and I would say it has been rarely played.
'Cluster One' plays with no lead in static and overall the audio is superb. It plays with hardly any interference, just the slightest of static here and there but this is to be expected with such a quiet track. The audio continues with wonderful clarity. 'A Great Day For Freedom' has a couple of light clicks at the beginning and plays with slightly more crackle perhaps but it is not obtrusive in any way and still sounds fantastic. I grade honestly as my feedback testifies and sometimes mention things where others wouldn't! 'Wearing The Inside Out' plays in sublime fashion and is nigh on perfect.
'Take It Back' plays with a little static but again I mention it for the sake of completeness, the audio is still very near mint. 'Coming Back To Life' plays perfectly. There are a couple of light clicks at the start of 'Keep Talking' but from thereon plays with a wonderful clear audio. The intro to 'Lost For Words' is stunning with no background interference at all and this fantastic audio continues right through to 'High Hopes' that also plays in stunning fashion, it doesn't get better than this!
In summary it would be hard to beat the sound quality of this first pressing. A little static here and there but it is in no way detrimental to the listening pleasure of this classic LP. It plays with no skips or jumps, lies perfectly flat on the turntable and plays as Mint for the majority. A stunning listen and this LP is only going to get rarer, amazing to think it is now over 20 years old. Any serious Floyd fan would be very happy to have this underrated first press in their collection!
The gatefold cover is in excellent condition. There is some rubbing to the bottom of the spine and a couple of small 'nicks' to the opening edge but overall it is in very clean and has been looked after very well. It retains a strong wide spine and the inside of the gatefold is in superb shape.
The lyric inner (with 5 inch thumb notch) is as new with no wear at all.
