Description
The Wall A2/B4/A6/B6 (early pressing)
On offer here is quite possibly the best early pressing of this classic album I have heard. The audio is of supreme quality and the gatefold is also in beautiful condition.
As this is an early pressing the gatefold has no bar code on the back cover and the band are not listed on the inside. It is also cream coloured and the bricks are not aligned on the bottom of the front cover.

Visual grading
The first vinyl has 2/3 fine hairlines on each side but have no affect on the stunning audio and it remains visually stunning after all these years. The second is absolutely immaculate and looks as new. It is so rare to find an early pressing looking as clean and pristine as this. S1 has no spindle wear, S2 has 3/4 very small wispy lines and S3 & 4 have only one barely visible line. It is obvious that both have been hardly played and the audio as detailed below is of an incredibly high standard. They both retain a lovely glossy sheen and whilst the first stunning the second is super stunning!
Play grading
'In The Flesh' begins S1 with stunning audio and no interference. With no lead in static either it quite simply plays with Mint quality. 'The Thin Ice' has two pops literally at the beginning but thereafter plays with immaculate sound again. The remainder of the side also is just so impressive with only one static sound during the 'Another Brick In The Wall part 1'. The clarity is absolutely stunning and 'Mother' is a great example of this. For such a quiet track it has sublime audio and plays as well as the day it was first released. It is quite possibly the best version I have heard.
The quiet intro on 'Goodbye Blue Sky' has only a minor hint of background static and the rest of the track plays perfectly bar 3/4 light dust ticks. This you will even find on new vinyl. The audio is still of the highest calibre. I cannot stress how good the audio is here! The only obvious interference on the rest of the side is one click at the start of 'One Of My Turns'. The quiet sections, and there are many of them, play with incredible quality. 'Goodbye Cruel World' is a fine example of this. A very quiet song and yet it ends the side with perfect audio.
'Hey You' on S3 has no lead in static and then has audio that can only be described as Mint, wow! 'Is There Anybody Out There' plays with the same immense quality and acoustic/orchestral section is superb with no 'background' whatsoever. There is one click at on the 'Nobody Home' intro but the remainder plays as new. The high end audio continues right through to the end and 'Comfortably Numb' is just mind-blowing! The depth and warmth of the sound on a vinyl that is over 35 years old is just incredible and even the 'legendary' guitar solo plays with fantastic power and absolutely no distortion which is such a rarity, I have never heard better. This is how music should be heard!
Every track on S4 is in a word Mint the quality is that good. Again I am just dumbstruck by the depth and power of the sound. There is no distortion on the louder sections and the ultra quiet tracks 'Stop' and 'Outside The Wall' play with a clarity that you so rarely find. It is just spine tingling!
In summary this is a wonderful early pressing and is without doubt an archive, final upgrade copy. It is so rare to find such an early pressing in this condition. The sonic quality is just immaculate and with only 3/4 clicks during the entire playback is incredible. There is zero static, only a handful of dust ticks, and no hiss. With a fantastic gatefold also this early pressing would be a great addition to any collection.
Gatefold cover
This gatefold is one of the best I have seen in a long time. It is so clean and the edges and wide spine are in near perfect shape with no shelf wear. The corners are also in wonderful condition and the opening edges have barely any handling wear at all. There are really no negatives. If I had to mention something there is just a little rubbing of the blue print mainly on the bottom of the front and back cover. However, this is very common and is only minimal here. The inside of the gatefold is immaculate with no marking etc. Overall this is a superb gatefold for its age and as I say this is one of the cleanest I have ever seen.
Lyric inners
They are both perfectly clean with no marking. They are both pristine although the first one did have a small split at the bottom which has been glued and the repair has worked extremely well. The second is immaculate and looks as new.
The labels
They are in immaculate condition with no marks/writing and only the S3 label has a minimal amount of spindle wear.
