Pink Floyd The Dark Side of The Moon UK Harvest SHVL 804. 1973.
 
Up for sale here is a very early copy of Pink Floyd’s  Dark Side of the Moon, with A3 B3 Matrix, Fantastic Midnight Blue Sleeve complete with Sticker and 2 Posters.

Outer Sleeve: EX
 
Although the LP is on the transparent triangle label, this copy has a Midnight Blue sleeve (with sticker) which accompanied the legendary solid blue triangle 1st pressings and a handful of early second pressings.
The sleeve is the type which opens on one side only and is in EX condition, being a nice clean example with only minimal wear, mainly confined to the opening corners. There are a couple of feint creases, one across the bottom right corner and one or two from the edges but all these are very feint and don’t really detract from what is a nice condition sleeve overall.
 
Vinyl:   Visual : EX-  Audio :  EX
 
The Vinyl is in EX- condition. There is a moderate amount of very fine hairline marks and one slightly longer and more noticeable hairline on side 1. Please see my play grade below for a more detailed description of audio quality.  This copy is above average in terms of visual condition, and whilst not Mint it’s a very nice copy.
 
The Audio is , well, stunning. WOW!!!!  It plays with great balance and dynamism. There is some low-level noise, but it is unobtrusive and doesn’t interfere with the listening experience. It’s easy to see why audiophiles tend to prefer A3 B3 pressings over A2 B2 pressings as in general the latter were less forgiving and had more persistent background noise present on playback. This copy just comes to life on so many tracks on this album, it really is a fantastic listening experience.

Labels: EX
 
The Labels are in EX condition – generally clean with a few light spindle lines There is a very small name “ Jill” written on the B side label on the blue edge to the triangle – this is incredibly hard to see!!
 
Inserts : Posters x 2 : Both VG
 
The 2 Posters are present. Both have been taped on a wall at some point many years ago, and the brown tape / residue remains on the corners. The Blue Pyramids poster has a small tear to the bottom left corner but none of the poster is missing.  Other than this they are generally clean.
 
Inner Sleeve:  EX+
 
The plain white inner sleeve is in VG+ condition and has a very small seam split on one side.
 
 
Overall this is nice A3 B3 copy with first edition stickered Midnight Blue sleeve.
 
Postage and Packing:
 
All records are placed in a separate poly lined inner and stored flat outside the sleeve and then placed sealed in a re-sealable polythene outer prior to shipping.  Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s. These mailers are a high-grade type which reinforce the edges around the LP and as such they are larger and weigh more than standard mailers.  My postage costs reflect the additional size and weight of the packaging that I use.
