This copy of Pink Floyd's very first album, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, is a genuine early pressing from 1967 on the blue / black Columbia label, in stereo - SCX6157 - now becoming rare as fewer were pressed in the first place.
The vinyl itself is still shiny and plays excellently throughout but has several paper scuffs so I have graded it VG++/EX-  The run out matrixes are YAX 3419 - 1 and YAX 3420 -1 with mother stampers A1 and M1
The labels are  nice and clean even though there is a little spindlewear and the genuine features are all there. Underneath the blue "Columbia" it says 'Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions. See price lists.' The UK tax stamps  K and T are reverse stamped on the label of side 1 on each side of the spindle hole.  At the bottom of the label, it says 'Made in Gt. Britain.' Text around the bottom edge of the label starts at 10 o'clock and says, 'The Gramophone Co., Ltd. All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved. Unauthorised public performance, broadcasting, and copying of this record prohibited.'
I grade the Ernest J. Day cover very good as the rear is quite grubby but it isn't split and its laminate front is lovely.
At nearly 50 years old the LP and sleeve naturally show signs of use, but this copy is respectable and very collectible. I will start the auction at a low price for this special item
