Side 1 and 2 were recorded live at a club called Mothers in Erdington , Birmingham - when the club closed down in the early 1970's , it was used as a furniture storage warehouse for the shop beneath (Cavendish Woodhouse) - I had a van driving job there................wild days!

Notes: Pink Floyd: David Gilmour (vocals, guitar); Richard Wright (vocals, keyboards); Roger Waters (vocals, bass); Nick Mason (drums). Party-liners may favor DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, but diehard space cadets recognize UMMAGUMMA as the pinnacle of post-Barrett Floyd's achievement. The first record is a live recording from 1969, while the second features four extended cuts written by (and featuring) each of the four bandmembers in turn. Eschewing the catchy, Kinks-influenced pop kaleidoscope of the band's first album, the live portion focuses on extended, spacy near-instrumentals, heavy on acid-fueled jamming and atmospheric electronic textures. From the Eastern-tinged "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" to the over-the-top psychosis of "Careful With That Axe, Eugene," UMMAGUMMA's first half is ground zero for the genre that would come to be known as space rock. The solo efforts on the second half are undoubtedly the band's most experimental, unconventional efforts ever. They make good use of the avant-garde techniques that were a key early influence, like musique concrete-style tape collage and sound effects. Along the way, there's some lovely folk-tinged balladry, courtesy of Roger Waters ("Grantchester Meadows"), and some proto-prog keyboard wizardry (Richard Wright's multi-part "Sysyphus" (sic).

I add new items most days..........please take a look
All items carefully graded audio-visually, and are played on a high quality system.
Please feel able to bid with confidence , as a collector myself I realize the requirements in the gradings of sleeves and discs , and how important it is to recieve items in the condition as advertised in listings , I notice many sellers on eBay using the buzzwords 'Stunning' , 'Superb' , 'Awesome' 'etc etc etc...... and have grossly long-winded descriptions by these 'experts' with sometimes technical information added , which is totally unrelated and untrue to actual facts , and would be laughable , but for for the fact that it is misleading , and tends to hide the fact that the items on offer are only Average/Very Good , substandard items........a 1000 word essay with vague/badly lit photographs on an album does not make what is VG condition into Mint condition...............I take time and care to grade items correctly , and list only quality records..........
I have been a lifelong music fan , my first concert visit was in 1957 (Birmingham Town Hall Skiffle Contest!) and have bought records of all the great music since 1959 , and had the privelege of seeing most of the great artists live too (I saw The Beatles twice....)
