PINK FLOYD "UMMAGUMMA"
HARVEST RECORDS cat# SHDW 1 / 2
FIRST PRESSING
*************************************************************
Pink Floyd had only recently 'lost' their imaginative leading light to the devastating effect of LSD, but had full intent to carry on.
This lp was their way to bang a peg in the mountain and climb onwards!
Acknowledging the foundation already laid, the two live sides were to represent their base from the Roundhouse 'UFO Club' days, and even featured a track only previously heard on a single.
The unity of their vision was all there - so here was a chance to also get out some SOLO tracks too!
Sides 3 & 4 are captivating examples of the four creative minds - and these pieces are sometimes absorbing, disturbing, and evocative.
No need for hallucinogenic enhancements.
To these ears, Dave Gilmore and Roger Waters recorded among the best Floyd tracks here!
Rick Wright and Nick Mason's tracks are at the least, interesting - perhaps worthy of soundtrack pieces.
Turn off the lights, turn up the volume and feed your head!!
