CAT NO SHDW 411 \412 AWESOME TOP 1ST PRESS GATEFOLD COVER AND INNERS! COMPLETE RARELY EVER SEEN LIKE THIS! LOOK SO RARE! NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE! THIS IS AN ARCHIVE COPY! THE BEST YET! WILL PROVIDE TOP! TOP! THE ABSOLUTE AUDIO SEPARATION ON ALL FREQUENCIES THAT CAN NOT BE FOUND LIKE THIS ON ANY OTHER FORMAT AVAILABLE!

Here is another from my personal collection the vinyls only ever played two times in over 36 years! Absolutely stunning original gate-fold cover has been kept in a sleeve all of its storage life,Very importantly with the vinyls and original sleeves seperated from the vinyls for protection against ringware damage! This is how i have always stored my records! And to complete this album this comes with the original poly sticker which was issued when new (rarely seen complete like this) Please don't underestemate the rarety of this album. This features  early UK matrix endings for this pressing -2u -2u and -3u -3u and is noted as a genuine 1st UK pressing rarely ever seen in this top condition so important for any avid Pink Floyd collectors! These produce the best ever audio seperation available on vinyl and in my personal opinion better than any other format available! I have very carefully listened to this all four sides of this album track for track at very loud volume on a top system prior to this listing. A true raunchy basey feel that can only be heard and felt on earliest UK vinyl STUNNING AUDIO SEPERATION! Play tested, prior to listing at very loud volume on a top system, the audio was almost cd quality throughout, graded almost as good as it could get in my personal opinion, I can't recall ever hearing better! Any static interference or comments that I can make is minimal indeed, a light scuff noise was heard in the right channel on the outro to last track on side 3 which in my opinion looks like a slight pressing imperfection there are no scratches and importantly this fades out to the run off and is soon forgotton.   Please note there are many many pressings and issues of this UK album and there are very important details that determine that this is the 1st issue, please read bellow!

Description: Gatefold cover.
Front Cover: A brick wall. The Wall is cream colored, not true white, with the brick outlines in purple-blue-grey. The cover is made from a single sheet of wrap-around cardboard with the seam arcoss the inner top edge of the cover. The bricks on the front cover are not aligned right to the bottom of the cover. (only 1st press)
Back Cover: A brick wall. There is no bar code on the back cover.
Inside Cover: The credits on the inside cover do not list the members of Pink Floyd. It only says "Words and Music - Roger Waters." (only 1st press)
Cover Sticker: Issued with a transparent sticker on the front cover that says (in black Scarfe lettering): "Pink Floyd The Wall." (only 1st press)
Inner Sleeves: Heavy cardboard inner sleeves with rounded corners and a nine-inch thumb notch. Original pressings have just the catalog number of the specific record listed on a single line in the lower right corner of the inner sleeve.

The Wall is a rock opera presented as a double album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, released in late 1979. It was subsequently performed live, with elaborate theatrical effects, and made into a film!

Following in the footsteps of their previous albums, The Wall is a concept album - specifically, it deals largely with the theme of isolation from one's peers. The concept was largely inspired by the band's 1977 tour promoting the album Animals, with regards to an incident where Roger Waters' frustration with the audience reached a point where Waters spat in the face of a fan who was attempting to climb on stage; this, in turn, led him to lament that such a wall exists. With its significantly darker theme, The Wall featured a notably harsher and more theatrical sound than their previous releases!

In 1977, Pink Floyd were promoting Animals with their In The Flesh tour. On the final night of the tour in Montreal, Canada, Waters spat in the face of a fan who was trying to climb over the netting between the audience and the stage, and get up with the band. The incident later helped inspire Waters to develop the idea of The Wall.

The album was recorded at four studios over eight months, owing to English tax laws and to benefit from the cheaper recording costs in the South of France. Tensions between Waters and the band were increasing significantly, largely to do with his dominance over the rest of the band. During the recording, Waters dismissed Richard Wright, and told him to leave immediately after The Wall was finished, arguing that Wright was not contributing much, in part owing to a cocaine addiction!.

 Waters claimed that David Gilmour and Nick Mason had supported his decision to fire Wright, but in 2000, Gilmour stated that he and Mason were against Wright's dismissal. In his book Inside Out, Nick Mason claims that Wright was fired because Columbia Records had offered Waters a substantial bonus to finish the album in time for a 1979 release. Since Wright refused to return early from his summer holiday, Waters wanted to dismiss Wright. However, he returned for their live performances as a paid musician!

For "Another Brick in the Wall (Part II)", Pink Floyd needed to record a school choir, so they approached music teacher Alun Renshaw of Islington Green School, around the corner from their Britannia Row Studios.

The chorus was overdubbed twelve times to give the impression that the choir was larger. The choir were not allowed to hear the rest of the song after singing the chorus. Though the school received a lump sum payment of £1000, there was no contractual arrangement for royalties. Under 1996 UK copyright law, they became eligible, and after choir members were tracked down by royalties agent Peter Rowan of RBL Music, through the website Friends Reunited, they sued. Music industry professionals estimated that each student would be owed around £500!

The album's overriding themes are the causes and implications of self-imposed isolation, symbolized by the metaphorical wall of the title. The album's songs create a very loose storyline sketching events in the life of the protagonist, Pink. Pink loses his father as a child (Waters's own father was killed in Anzio during World War II), is smothered by his overprotective mother, and is oppressed at school by tyrannical, abusive teachers, each of these traumas becoming "another brick in the wall"!!. As an adult Pink becomes a rock star, but his relationships are marred by infidelity and outbursts of violence. As his marriage crumbles, Pink finishes building the wall and completes his isolation from human contact!

The Wall is a rock opera that centres on the character "Pink". Largely based on Waters' personal life, Pink struggles in life from an early age, having lost his father in war ("Another Brick in the Wall (Part 1)"), abused by teachers ("The Happiest Days of Our Lives"), nurtured by an overprotective mother ("Mother"), and deserted by his wife later on ("Don't Leave Me Now") - all of which factored into Pink's mental isolation from society, figuratively referred to as "The Wall" !.

The Vinyls

The 1st important note is that these are the original thicker type of vinyl than the later pressings which are much more flimsier and less robust!

There isn't much to say about the vinyls these look almost as new,,  Any marks that could be possibly be seen looked under strong light would be sleeve removal marks only! (non audio sounding) in fact both vinyls look and sound like they have never been played in my opinion! Try to find better after 28 years! Points to note!! These vinyls have been stored seperately in poly sleeves during its storage life which has preserved these vinyls all of these years this is how i have always stored my vinyls!

It is all to easy to be critical about Pink Floyd 70s vinyls but the audio quality on these will be hard to surpass! Please allow for minor isolated static crackle/ tick in quieter places on these 70s vinyls which is very common. The fact that these original vinyls are in virtually unplayed condition makes the difference for the best audio quality available on these pressings! Please note! To be very critical, I heard very light scuff noise in the right channel only, at the outro of side 3 on the very last track on to the run off grooves to mention only but I must emphisise that there are no scratches or marks visually and this is heard on the run off only noticed if played at a loud volume in my opinion and nothing detremental to the absolutely mind blowing main audio quality.  THIS AUDIO WILL BE HARD TO SURPASS! THE BEST YET! Audio graded at least excellent plus very near mint on all four sides one of the best that I have heard!

The Labels

All four are awesome (no) nasty marks  and are extreemely clean look superbe!  Amazingly I find it hard to see any spindle traces at all! Quite unbeleivable for a 30 year old original and early 1ST  UK pressing! (no) spindleware the holes are perfectly round!! SEE THE CLOSE UPS IN THE PHOTOS THIS IS SO RARE TO FIND!

These are the original 1st press lyric sleeves (Awesome ) feature the cataloge numbers (only early press! Thick card type (only 1st press) top examples no side splits both explus to very near as mint Amaizing to find no ring wear!

The Cover

This is the original 1st issue 1st UK Pressing un laminated gate-fold cover! Very Very hard to find in this condition! Important points to note! This is the original! There are very slight variations uniue to 1st press covers,,, for instance, the cover is not brilliant white like later covers also the credits to Roger Waters on the inside of the gatefold are all in one brick (later press do not have this) also the bricks are slightly missaligned droping to the right (only 1st press) There has always been a small creasing at one corner on the front top left near the spine this was as I received it when purchased from new and you have to look for it to really notice in my opinion. This is really the only thing that I can add to fault this cover really.  The amaizing rarety is that there is no ring ware at all and is lovely and straight any indent marks are not really noticed unless looked for.  The inside is like new. Importantly (no) real staining \fading with age! Lovely and clean!(An important feature is that there is barely any yellowing with age this is generally lovely and white! More importantly (no) ringware or edge splits as the vinyls have been stored seperate from the cover all these years to prevent this! THIS IS HOW I ALWAYS HAVE STORED MY ALBUMS! THE BEST ORIGINAL COVER THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN! MUST BE EXCELLENT PLUS !

THIS IS COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL ''WALL'' PERSPEX STICKER (NORMALLY LOST) AND WERE ONLY FOUND ON THE EARLIEST PRESSINGS! ADDS TO THE MEGA COLLECTABILITY OF THIS AWESOME SOUNDING ALBUM! Points to note, These stickers never had adhesive it is attached by pure suction. This is the original.

NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE FROM THIS ALBUM!

Summery: Okay you can find faults with any 30 year old album, but I have archived this album since purchased and I beleive the over all condition will be very hard to beat. This is my personal opinion, see my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right..
