Description
On offer here is a rare A1/B3 first press of Wish You Were Here in amazing condition and includes the iconic postcard. This LP will not disappoint the true fan such is the quality of the audio.
Visual grading
Under a bright light the vinyl looks stunning and I cannot detect any hairlines or scratches whatsoever. Having play tested the entire LP I think it has been hardly played such is quality of the audio. Below is a detailed description of the play testing and as you will read the audio is quite simply stunning.
Play grading
The intro to 'Shine On..' is quite simply sublime. There is no lead in static and you think...this is going to play well and it does not disappoint! This has to be one of the best versions of 'Shine On..' I have heard. It plays so clearly the clarity is absolutely stunning. Sonically it also superb and it plays with a depth and richness of sound you only get with vinyl. You can only hear the faintest of static here and there but honestly it is so quiet it is hardly worth mentioning. There is a little more static at the beginning of 'Welcome To The Machine' (and one light click) but this soon disappears but you then have pure unadulterated listening pleasure all over again! When you consider how quiet a lot of the side is the audio shines through (no pun intended!) and is a wonderful example of this classic LP.
'Have a Cigar' starts Side Two in exemplary style, the slightest of lead in static and then plays fantastically well, almost as new and with no interference. 'Wish You Were Here' plays with stunning clarity (I did hear one click) and there is no crackle at all. This is perhaps the best 'Wish You Were Here' I have heard on any pressing let alone a first press, the audio is that good. Unsurprisingly the remainder of the side plays just as well with wonderful clarity and depth of sound and no background interference at all.In summary this is without doubt the best A1/B3 first press I have ever heard and quite possibly the best pressing I have heard! I do not over grade as my feedback testifies and the audio on this LP is absolutely astounding. If you want a final upgrade copy then this is the one to own!
Cover
The cover is in excellent condition with just one mark on the front cover as can be seen on one of the photos and a little discolouration also. However, the edges (except for one small 'dink' on the top edge) are in wonderful condition with no shelf wear. The thin pinched spine is also in great condition and is 100% legible. The opening edge is very clean, it just has very slight wear the top. This 'white cover' is often seen in poor condition and whilst this one does have some discolouration and 3/4 small fingerprint type marks on the reverse this is one of the better ones you will see and has stood the test of time well.
Inner sleeve
The heavy cardboard lyric sleeve is in great condition and as per the first presses it has the cropped corners. It only has a few small creases on the red veil side and has no splits on any of the sides which is very rare.
Postcard
The postcard (with serrated edges) is in excellent condition with just one minor crease on one corner.
